No2 Budle Bay Cottage Reviews

Jonathan
This place feels like home. As soon as we open the door we can feel all our worries melt away. We love the familiarity of the cottage. Its so comfy and cosy. We cant wait to return to this special place.
We love this cottage been a number of times and will do again. However we had problems locking the exterior doors in fact we didnt lock the Yale at all it refused to close fully. The heating system has a fault a21 I reset regularly and it would respond in time. The heating didnt work first night but we spoke to the owner who advised us how to get going. This meant the house was v cold at first. Water pressure v poor but I doubt this can b rectified. FYI Tap dripping in kitchen. All this considered we had a great week.
Joanne
The cottage is in a stunning position and the owner is very helpful. Access to bay and beach is on the doorstep. Lovely wood burning stove with wood provided. Lovely and warm throughout. Decor and facilities dated...kitchen sink tap falling off, water pressure poor, bathroom tap dripping. No washing up liquidtowelsbin liners... Cosy, stunning but be prepared to take everything you might need....shops ar not far away
Elizabeth
Stunning location, beautiful rustic cottage. Easy walking distance of loads of local amenities, not to mention a stones throw from the beach and with the most amazing sunset views.
Beautiful property. Ideal location. Everything you need . Had loose floorboard in passage way held down with screws which moved . Ended up with couple pairs of ripped socks on the screws. Dusty with plenty spiders and cob webs . But the peacefulness and tranquility of the place is worth every penny. 1010
There is no dishwasher, or welcome pack. Very restricted outside space to sit
Maureen
This was our 5th visit between no2 and no4 budle cottages and we have always enjoyed our stay. Although the cottages were originally farm cottages I do think the area around the cottages needs to be tidied up. There has been leftover building equipment lying around for years. There is also piles of rubbish in the field which need to be disposed of. The water temperature in the shower is temperamental. Apart from above OK.
Jennifer
The cottage was lovely comfortable, warm, well appointed. There was also a good view of Budle Bay and Lindisfarne. Thank you.
Good location for the beach and village. Kitchen and bedrooms need a deep clean. Some ceiling lights out in kitchen. Only a single bedside light and table in the master bedroom. There was a general smell of dog on the settee and blankets in bedroom. Disappointed to find sand and dog hair on fitted sheet in single room.
Elizabeth
The area was spectacular but the cottage was a disappointment. could have done with a proper deep clean, cobwebs everywhere and the limescale in the kettle was awful. the showerhead was full of limescale too. I clean holiday lets for a living and would be ashamed to leave a property like this.
Katherine
The cottage is wonderfully positioned yards from the beach, this keeps us returning. On a clear evening, beautiful coastal sunsets. Cottage is basic and has old fashioned cutlery and plates and wallpaper but I love this aspect of its feature. Huge inglenook fireplace with log burner makes the living room. Kitchen has everything you need. Only things I would add is a new rug in the living room, its not as cosy or comfortable with the old one gone. Weighing scales in the kitchen would be great for baking please! Will keep returning , one of my favourites and the owner and family at other cottages are lovely too.
Beautiful traditional cottage with all the essential kitchen facilities, large shower & comfortable bedssofa. Perfect location for exploring & beach on the doorstep. Would definitely stay again
I had the most wonderful stay in this cottage for the week. A much needed break from the stresses of work. It was relaxing and peaceful. Then back to the warm cottage with its woodburner. I had sunny, spring weather and the views just 2 mins from the cottage on the coastal path are breathtaking over the bay.
We always enjoy staying in these cottages. We missed the rug in the lounge this time. The location is amazing. We never tire of visiting this place and hope to be able to continue to do so. So much to see. We visited Ford and Etal for the first time, loved it. Im allergic to the fabric conditioner used on the bedding which is the only negative point.
Joanne
The property was lovely and cosy and warm with wood supplied for the fire. 1 bottle of water supplied because it was advised not to use tap water wasn't really enough for a weeks' stay. Small things like tiny bit of washing up liquid and 1 toilet roll. Location was stunning and absolutely loved it.
Judith
Fabulous property suitable for walks and adventures. It was warm and cosy and everything you needed to make your stay perfect
Very nice property would come again
Jennifer
A pleasant cottage with generally good facilities. The central heating was rather temperamental and the owner wasn't able to reset it. It was disconcerting to find that water needed to be boiled for drinking only three days before departure. Inquiries were not answered as the team at SykesNorthumberland Coast and Country cottages were'too busy' !! The location at Budle Bay is lovely. Only a few minutes walk from the beach with great views over the bay.
Jackie
The cottage had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. It would be nice to have a picnic table outside No. 2 to enable people to eat outside, possibly round the back where you can see the sea or on the grass opposite. The current outside seating only has a view of the brick building. Great location for access to beach walks and the England coastal path and ability to walk to Bamburgh. Campsite shop and bar within walking distance. Lack of bins available for dog waste meant we had to put in the wheelie bin.
Heather
Lovely property and exactly the comfort you would expect from a traditional Northumberland cottage. We were blown away by the location, facilities, friendliness of owner and the fire has to have a mention. Fantastic holiday, we are getting ready to book our next stay soon! Thanks Eric!
Lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful location. Loved the walks to the beach from the property. The owner Eric was friendly and very helpful. Would definitely visit again.

Another lovely stay at No. 2, love the cottage, warm and cosy with fabulous views over Holy Island and the golden sands. Great beach walks directly from the cottage. Living Room lovely with large fireplace and very efficient wood burner , great TV. Great kitchen and facilities all work well. Beds comfortable and shower good. We will keep returning !
We had a lovely relaxing week at budle bay cottage, easy access to the beach and also for exploring the surrounding areas It was lovely returning at the end of the day to a warm comfortable cosy little gem We have already booked a return visit in the summer.
Elizabeth
The cottage was wonderful, had all the comforts I needed. Very clean and cosy. The situation was amazing being just a 5 minute walk from the beach and the view from the kitchen was fabulous, being able to see Lindisfarne castle. Also rabbits running around their warren in the field outside was a plus. Well placed for visiting places of interest. Would definitely visit again.
Adrian
We have had many holidays in Sykes cottages but I think this was the best. It had everything we needed, including a friendly on site owner. Our only problem now is trying to decide when we could go back. I did not give full marks for description because the bathroom has been modernised and now has a walk in shower, which was better for us than the advertised over bath shower. Thanks for a great cottage Eric.
We love the cottage its position is ideal. Warm and cosy, our happy place. Weve hired a number of times but first time staying its usually for our son and family we stay in kittiwake. We had friends with us so needed the 2 bedrooms. The fire is grand and the view from kitchen window stunning. So many places to visit , eat and walk and dream. Welly e back .
Malcolm
A very comfortable stay with a warming log fire. Lovely walk from the cottage down to the beach. Our little dog thoroughly enjoyed herself. Only downside was that nobody came at all during our stay to check that everything was OK or whether we needed anything. For me personal contact is so important.
The cottage didn't dissapoint our second stay here this year. The location is amazing for a get away from it all but within easy access of plenty of lovely places. The cottage has everything you could need . Photos need updating as lovely new shower and updated kitchen. We loved our stay and so did our dogs. Thankyou for letting us share this amazing quirky cottage.

No2 Budle Bay is my favourite Cottage and location on the Northumberland coast. Beautifully situated yards from the beach, with great walks and views across to Lindisfarne Castle where I had my wedding, views out of the cottage windows of the castle too. Cottage is very warm and comfortable one storey property. I love its old charm with traditional wallpaper and crockery that is much more appealing and better quality than any modern kitchenware. All kitchen living room appliances very good, only item that needs an upgrade is the DVD player. Large beautiful fireplace with great wood burner. So cosy! Cant wait to return again!
Excellent location. Basic no frills accommodation. It's a shame that general maintenance let this property down. The accommodation could have been cleaner. Bottom of cupboards and utensils drawers needed a good wipe. The rug in the living area was stained and dirty. Overall the cottage could do with a good deep clean.
Malcolm
A wonderful little holiday property. Wonderful location, desirably oldfashioned yet offering modern conveniences. Strongly recommended.
Anthony
A good property, well equipped and situated in a lovely setting
Charlie
The property was lovely and cosy and in a fantastic location as so close to the beach! Loved walking down to the beach early for a walk with the dogs. Only slight complaint is there is not an enclosed garden as stated in the ad as its basically a driveway. for all the cottages. Didnt bother us as we just took our dogs down the public footpath right behind the house but if it was warm weather and you wanted to enjoy a garden or sitting outside you would be disappointed!
