Stone Cottage Reviews

Michael
Well positioned in relation to the castle and restaurants. We have been before a number of times but would like to comment on a few items downstairs shower head requires replacing main television ancient with sound particularly all over the place when viewing outside lights need to be stronger and better positioned toaster needs replacing as left hand side unreliable and must be switched off at the mains all the time outside key lock poorly positioned as when be arrived 4.05pm had to get on hands and knees to operate. Stiff to manage operation and same on departure.

A lovely property very close to the village amenities and the bonus of a parking space. Warm and comfortable and all the things you need for a weeks stay.
We have returned home after a most enjoyable stay at Stone Cottage. The cottage was perfectly located for us, just a short walk to the Grace Darling Museum, the Walled Garden, the local church and the pubs, shops and restaurants in Bamburgh. The cottage was perfectly laid out for us, highly practical kitchen area, lovely dining area I will retain the view from the window in my memory for a long time. We found ourselves lingering over breakfast looking towards the coast and watching the resident wren flitting around on the garden fence capturing insects. The lounge area was perfect for the two of us and we enjoyed stretching out with a good book or relaxing watching the tv of an evening after a long days walking or sightseeing. Upstairs was adequately furnished two comfortable single beds and a very comfortable double. The bedding and pillows were of excellent quality and so both my husband and I got restful nights sleep. We found the downstairs shower room very convenient as neither of us is quite so agile for climbing in and out of a bath! If you had forgotten your reading material there were plenty of interesting books at the top of the stairs and I also noticed there were games supplied for rainy days. This cottage is obviously a well loved and well used family home and we thank the owners for sharing it with us. Providing we can make the journey again we would love to revisit Bamburgh and Stone Cottage again next year. A great holiday destination.
We have stayed once before. The cottage is very comfortable, a short walk from the centre of Bamburgh and the beaches, and is located in a quiet culdesac. It lived up to expectations.
We have stayed at this cottage several times and the location is very good. Great for visiting different areas and on a lovely quiet cul de sac. However, we found the fixtures and fittings to the interior tired, in need of a refresh, and lacking in comfort. There are only 2 small 2 seater sofas and a very small footstool for 4 people??. One of the sofas doesn't even have any cushions on now. Also on the Friday we arrived, both the ovens, top and bottom were filthy. There was oil spilt on the floor of both ovens, clearly seen, so when switched on, the ovens smoked badly. And yes, we could have reported it to the cottage company, but we did not want cleaners in the cottage whilst we were on holiday, to complete a job which should have been done properly in the first place. As for the grill pan, I think there is something growing in it, or will be soon. In this ever increasing market of holiday properties, to rely solely on the location of a property, does not represent value for money for returning customers like ourselves.
Christine
Stone cottage really ticked all the boxes, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, everything supplied, nice and cozy, a real home from home. It was also very handy for all the attractions and amenities, would definitely recommend.
Michael
Lovely house and secure garden in a quiet street with great access to the hotels, restaurants and shops. Bamburgh is a lovely location for a holiday.
Stephen
Loved this place, the location is wonderful, the house is modern, well equipped and cosy. We loved wandering around the village just as it was getting dark and then the short walk back to a beautiful home.
Anthony
Wonderful, well apponted cottage for all local amenities.
This is our second stay at the property and we will probably return. This is because it is in such a good location, ideal for walking and not having to move the car. However, I do feel, given it's price category, that I need to make a couple of points. Firstly given the property is for 4 people, and there are only 2 two seater sofas, I do feel at least some foot stools could be provided. There were 3 of us staying this time, and even then, there is no room to stretch out, relax and put your feet up after a days walking. Secondly, the toaster, I mean really, for 4 people? It's not even big enough to toast a full size slice of bread. Minor improvements I feel, at very little cost. Overall a nice cottage that would benefit from some upgrading comfort wise.
Kathryn
This is our third visit with our dog to Stone cottage. We love the location, its quiet but so near the beach and Bamburgh facilities. The cottage is clean, warm and cosy. We struggle with it being dog friendly and each time before we let Luna in have to move the two cube sidetables to bottom of the stairs so we can abide by the no dog upstairs rule! This as we are getting older is then difficult for us humans to climb over to get updownstairs easily!! A stair gate would be useful to provide as you have open stairs from the lounge!!
Lovely, comfortable and warm. This property has everything needed in a holiday cottage.Perfectly situated for the beach and the Main Street in Bamburgh. I would just point out the broken blind on the French doors and the parking space is not fully utilised. Due to a wooden frame in front of the kitchen window, there is only room for one car parked at an angle. Removal of the frame would allow two cars to park.
We couldn't have asked for a better location to stay. The local pub was friendly and welcoming. The cottage was lovely, spacious and comfortable. We've already recommended it to friends looking to stay in this area. The only slight issue we had was that the blinds on the ground floor could do with attention to provide adequate privacy in an evening, particularly the broken one to the french door! but aside from that we had a wonderful stay and would definitely return

Great location, ideal garden for our dog, comfortable interior, garden furniture ... Great location, ideal garden for our dog, comfortable interior, garden furniture could do with some improvement but overall very good
Great cottage in lovely quiet location close to all amenities and beach. Has everything you need to have a relaxing, comfortable holiday. We were 2 plus dog and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thanks.
Beautiful property in a perfect location, lovely, bright and spacious. We found the garden however, very disappointing. It is full of weeds and the furniture looks like it's never been treated or looked after why?? The BBQ is awful and looks ready for the tip, I would definitely not use it. Such a shame as the property is so beautiful inside. We found it very strange that family photos were displayed around the place, never come across this before in a holiday rental, it felt like we were house sitting especially when the landline rang! Overall, we had a great stay but the garden needs attention it really lets the place down.

This is our 5th stay at Stone Cottage and we really enjoy the property, however nothing has changed in those 5 years and some of the cooking utensils and cutlery now need updating. In previous feedback I mentioned the outside area and the table and chairs need cleaning refurbished and the barbecue isnt usable as its in poor repair and very dirty. We enjoyed our stay and Im sure we will return in the future but would appreciate if you could take note of our feedback.
Philip
Perfect location and everything was first class in the cottage
Amanda

Loved everything about our holiday home. Great quiet location but near to village and beach. Very clean. Well equipped kitchen. Comfy beds. Great shower. Will definitely go back.
Fantastic cottage. Very spacious and well equipped. Lovely to have the outside space to enjoy the sunshine in the evening. Perfect location for Bamburgh and the beaches.
Excellent quiet location, plenty of room , good facilities, very comfortable and dog friendly.
Well located cottage. House is well equipped and of good quality.
Stone Cottage is a beautiful house which was spotlessly clean, well equipped and in a great location. .........
An excellent holiday home. Clean and bright with heating quickly available if needed in a peaceful area of Bamburgh yet only a few minutes walk from the village centre. Good evening eating in the village in at least 5 places. We holidayed in this property for several years and have reserved it for two weeks next year.
Stone Cottage is the perfect base for those wishing to visit Northumbrian coast. Well equipped, conveniently located and best of all, dog friendly, we loved it.
Very comfortable, spacious cottage, well equipped and in a very convenient location for walking into Bamburgh and accessing the beach. Beds comfortable and plenty of seating. Garden totally enclosed if you have a dog, as we did. An excellent week away.
An excellent holiday we like the area and were happy with the accommodation at Stone Cottage.
