Dunford Cottage Reviews

Leslie
A lovely cottage well equipped for a family stay. The kitchen especially so. The property was clean with bedding and decor of a high standard. Fabulous view of Bamburgh Castle from the front windows. We were well pleased with our weeks stay there and would highly recommend to anyone. Sheila Holmes
The property is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The view from the front of the house of the castle is amazing. It is a short walk to the beach and a few minutes walk to the main street where there are lovely places to eat and drink.

We have had a fantastic stay at Dunford Cottage. It was very comfortable and homely and had everything we needed and more. The cottage is very well equipped for a family with young children children's plates and cutlery, high chair if needed, stair gates and some toys and books. The garden was a highlight for us and we spent a lot of time playing outside and enjoying meals with the view of Bamburgh Castle. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely holiday.
This is our 5th year and cant wait to get back. Home from home feeling kitchen well stocked and everything freshly painted and clean. Only problem is parking, but whats a little walk between us. Two of my friends have tried to book the house and failed
Dunford Cottage is in a marvellous location near the centre of Bambrugh 's small village with uninterrupted castle views. The cottage itself is very well appointed having a roomy kitchen, lovely new bathroom, comfortable sitting room and spacious garden in a quiet location. The locals are really friendly. The Potted Lobster giving us a free litre of milk when we unexpectedly arrived later than planned after all the little shops were closed.
Richard
A beautiful, well equipped cottage with the most stunning view of the castle. One of the best, if not the best property weve stayed in. Just a few problems with parking but we managed.
House lovely very clean, really well equipped, especially the kitchen. Kids loved having toys. Gardens both perfect, and so well looked after. Worried parking might be an issue but it really wasnt. The only issue was the one toilet which was a struggle for 6 people and no lock on the bathroom door. Have you considered putting a big, heavy duty curtain round the top of the stairs in the attic room? Would give a bit more privacy and quiet from the rest of the house at night. Overall the house was in a fabulous location, spotlessly clean, loads of space downstairs, wonderful outdoor space and had everything we needed
Kathryn
We come to Bamburgh and Seahouses every year, and have stayed in many different cottages. This was by far the best we have ever stayed it. It was clean, and so well equipped. It had everything you could think of for adults, children and even dogs treats and dog toys. Amazing stay and would 100 recommend to anyone. The view from the living room of Bamburgh Castle just topped off how gorgeous this cottage is. We cant wait to return!
This is our fourth time, and just booked again for summer next year we managed to get in . Its comforting to know that when we arrive, you dont have to worry about anything . We had a wonderful time, upset by one thing parking, we do our best not to upset the residents, one car had a note on the window screen and we had a key down the side of the car, were hoping that it was the bin men , cant imagine people there would do anything like that . Not stopping us coming back, you have a beautiful place, thank you for sharing it with us. Julie and family
Hilary
We were so pleased to return to Dunford Cottage, and found it warm, shining clean, and as welcoming as ever. We hope to be back next year.
Alison
This cottage lacks nothing. It works and everything is clean and extremely comfortable. Lots of little extras, books, outdoor play toys, blankets, information, and nothing cut back in the kitchen. Lots of plates, bowls, mugs, cutlery & pans. Lovely outlook. Convenient to the local High Street, and lovely restaurants. Absolutely had an amazing stay. Thank you .
We had an excellent stay and so much better than a year ago . The cleaning was now very good and everything we had mentioned had been remedied. When the bathroom is redone at the end of the season it will be perfect. Until then as there is no shaver socket in the bathroom a 3 pin shaver adapter is needed we did ask Sykes Cottages and they said they would get housekeeping to drop one off but this never happened. In the end we drove to Seahouses to buy one but took it with us. It is a lovely cottage in a perfect position and hope to return
A wonderful cottage. Very clean, comfortable and extremely well equipped, especially if you are staying with children. Great location near the local restaurants, castle and short walk to the beach. Will be recommending to our friends.
I wish there was 1 more bathroom and that there was tea & coffee etc on arrival, but in all other areas Dunford Cottage was a fantastic base for our holiday in Bamburgh.
Beautiful cottage, fabulous location , excellent views, perfect in every way, superb holiday.
Catherine
Bamburgh is a wonderful holiday destination and Dunford was welcoming, spotless and so very well equipped for a family holiday. We were a three generation family group, it was absolutely fantastic for the younger generation, the toys, books, and equipment in the shed were magnificent for my grandchildren. The grandparents us were up in the loft bedroom, no bedroom door was an issue and a second bathroom would have made it perfect. To wake up and look through the dormer window was a real treat, daybreak over the farne islands was tremendous. Thank you for having us in your happy place..
Our stay was everything we expected and had a lovely family time despite the weather. The cottage was very comfortable and clean which we were so pleased about, it had everything thing in youd want and an abundance if cups mugs lol , an extra bathroom would have made it perfect as with 6 adults it takes a while for everyone to get sorted, its a lovely homely cottage with good decor and amazing views of the castle. The only set backs we had was the doggie smell in the conservatory it is very strong and on a sunny day i think it could be intense but we had our dog with us and it was the place he slept so cant say to much on the subject. A few flies were a but if an issue in kitchen area not sure why as its a bit late in the year for flies but thought we should mention it ! Parking was an issue as we all had cars and the locals were a bit off with us till they knew we had the permits and were staying at the Cottage. Apart from the few gripes we would definitely book it again it had a lovely feel to it and we were very happy with our welcome packs it makes a nice touch receiving them, thank you. Willy.
Fantastic holiday home, brilliant place location, parking
Hilary
We have stayed at Dunford Cottage more times than I can count, and will come back again. The location is perfect. In the last years, the cottage has become less well maintained. It used to be shining clean. Now the carpet is stained and grubby, as are the sofa cushions and covers. If you lift the covers, there is accumulated grime and sand. The shower seal in the bathroom has gone, so that the floor becomes wet. We joke about 'will they have fixed the toilet seat this time?' it's not on straight and slips a little. I would suggest a least a regular deep clean I know the cottage is heavily booked shower inspection and resealing of door. Really, a walk in shower would be far more useful and get rid of that creaky plastic bath. The kitchen is well equipped with quality china etc. but really cupboard space is wasted with so many duplicate sets. Since Sykes took over, no longer wine on arrival, butcher's voucher, or feeling of welcome. For the very high cost of staying, washing sponges, J cloths, bathroom and toilet cleaner, adequate number of loo rolls should be a minimum. Keeping the vacuum clean excellent quality in an upstairs bedroom cupboard is completely impractical.
What an amazing holiday cottage in a wonderful location. It had everything that a family of all ages could need.
Lovely base in Northumberland. Well equipped cottage
Elizabeth
Really loved being in the village. The accommodation and faciliities were perfect, and the view of the castle from the sitting room and master bedroom are MAGNIFICENT! Thanks for a lovely New Year's break.
This was one of the best cottages we have booked. It was very homely and well equipped. Beautifully presented in an amazing location. We were very comfortable and happy. Thank you for accommodating our dog Ronnie.
THE MOST AMAZING PLACE TO STAY! SO GRATEFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY AND WILL BE BOOKING AGAIN!
