Turnstone Cottage Reviews

A good area for a holiday, lots of places to visit. The cottage is generally quite comfortable but stairs steep and windy for elderly people. Would suit 4 not 6 people as only 2 armchairs and 1 sofa in sitting room plus one very small bathroom upstairs and no downstairs loo. Generally rather claustrophobic dark furniture and some windows obscured by vegetation. No suitable sitting out area it is very small, overgrown and grubby and very public. Nowhere to hang out washing although a rotary dryer was provided! This could be a beautiful little cottage but it needs some TLC and a thorough clean. PS If you're a dog owner there's nowhere to walk except along the road.
Lovely cottage but not really dog friendly due to roadside location. Although plenty of walks near by Only enough sitting area for 5 in living room yet sleeps six A dishwasher would be good Rest of kitchen well equipped
Valerie
Cottage very comfortable, clean and homely. Beautiful position and handy for the coastal area. Exceptionally well equipped.
Nicola
This was a very homely cottage, making the most of historical features. Particularly well equipped for a group of six only two of us and a dog this time 2 x fridge, 2 x microwave and a large oven. One of the most comfortable beds yet. Loved the art and artefacts. The high ceilings, fireplaces and general comfort. The only negative for us if being picky was the low pressure in the shower. Good water pressure downstairs. The welcome basket
We had a super week at Turnstone Cottage. The cottage is ideally located in a quiet, scenic spot and there is loads to do in this area, so much that we couldn't fit all our plans into one week! Turnstone Cottage is really comfortable and cosy, very well equipped and easily accommodated 5 adults. Mike, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.
We spent a beautiful week in this cottage, it's our first time to Northumberland and our first UK holiday with our 2 year old and Labrador together! The cottage had absolutely everything we needed and more, it was clean, comfortable and we felt truly at home here! We were greeted by a beautiful hamper made by the the owners too, thank you so much! We will definitely be rebooking for another week next year as we were genuinely so sad to be leaving! Thank you for making our holiday so special.
We had a fantastic stay. Felt at home straight away. The cottage had everything we needed and more. We will definitely return.
Lovely, well appointed cottage but the picture is slightly misleading as you cant easily get to the sea. Nowhere to walk dogs first thing, as the cottage is right on the road.
We had a lovely holiday at Turnstone cottage. It was like a home from home. We really enjoyed our evenings with the log burner. I really liked being able to see the birds from the bedroom window when the tide was out it would be a twitchers heaven! The aurora on 2 evenings just made the holiday perfect.
Aileen
Lovely cottage, clean and cosy. The most well equipped cottage we have ever stayed in and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. The kitchen just needs a pair of tongs, turning sausages with a spatula was not for me, I am too clumsy!
Ernest
Had a great week. Ideally situated for places of interest. The cottage itself provided everything one would need and was very comfortable.
We had a really good week at Turnstone Cottage. Everything we needed was provided and we received a really warm welcome. The location was very scenic and a great base from which to drive out and explore beautiful Northumberland.
A terrific little cottage, well equipped, clean and with everything we needed for our holiday. There was a lovely welcome hamper waiting for us when we arrived. A great little courtyard area and easy access to the beach outside of the complex 5 min walk on path. Easy drive into Bamburgh or a lovely coastal walk for walkers 3 miles. Very informative leaflets left for ideas on activities in the area. We had a lovely time and we would recommend this cottage for anyone wanting a nice cosy stay in the area.
Brenda
Fantastic cottage. Great location , ideal for exploring the area. Welcome packs fantastic with that extra personal touch. Beds very comfortable and good quality kitchen with everything you would need. Highly recommended.
We had a lovely stay at Turnstone Cottage it's in a good location with sea views and off road parking. The Cottage is spacious and very well equipped, a huge kitchen that was a pleasure to cook in and the best welcome pack we've ever had. The Cottage was spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished and we would definitely recommend it. We love this part of Northumbria there is so much to see and do and would definitely stop at Turnstone Cottage again.
Had such a lovely stay at Turnstone Cottage. Beds very comfortable, kitchen so well equipped even for Christmas turkey..., everything clean. No noise from the road due to very good window insulation. Loved the fireplace and also the friendly owner. Felt comfy and at home. Thank you!
Sandra
Turnstone Cottage is well presented and very comfortable, met all our needs, we really appreciated the welcome hamper on arrival, the owner certainly went the extra mile. It is well placed for exploring the area. We really enjoyed our stay, in a beautiful area.
This has to be one of the best equiped kitchens I have ever stayed in. No dishwasher or clothes dryer. The dishwasher not a problem clothes dryer big problem with young children and wet weather, no decent airer or outside line which made life more difficult as struggled with almost unusable equipment. When a property is billed as dog friendly , I expect that! I also realise that not all guests will travel with covers etc as I do just in case, I dont like signs up everywhere saying no dogs up stairs on stairs etc. It would have been better with a child gate on the bottom of the stairs that could be for children and dogs. I used a broken one to block stairs. The beds where absolutely the most comfortable. I want one! Products supplied for guests beautiful touch as the welcome box and card. I would stay again very good for exploring the beautiful Northumberland coastal area.
Thank you Michael for a wonderful stay. Particularly nice and thoughtful to get the welcome basket of goodies. House equipped with anything one could need and very comfortable. Highly recommend. We all fell in love with Northumberland
Robert
This was a wonderful cottage in a stunning location. It came with the best welcome hamper weve ever received. Would really struggle to find anything negative to say about it, except the mobile signal for us was nonexistent but the router allowed WiFi calling which cancelled that complaint out. We only had the wood burner going a couple of times as I couldnt be bothered lighting it. The smart tv kept us entertained in the evenings and was easy to navigate. All in all, it was a hassle free stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this cottage. Being February it was a little chilly in the morning downstairs, but once the log burners were fired up it was cosy. Very well kitted out, beds comfortable, an ideal base to explore the coast of Northumberland. Although located directly facing the road, we never heard any road noise as it wasn't the busiest road in the world. Lovely welcome pack waiting for us on arrival, even biscuits for the dogs. Definitely recommend. Note there is only one parking space, and literally no place you could park a 2nd car not an issue for us as we had one car only but if you took 2 x cars it would be an issue.
A beautifully situated cottage in Waren Mill with lovely views over Budle Bay. The accommodation was very comfortable and warm. Very well equipped kitchen with everything you could possibly need. Instructions available for all appliances. We especially liked and appreciated the welcome basket on arrival with some lovely treats for both us and our 2 dogs. There was also milk ready for us in the fridge and a few toiletries in the bathroom. We had a wonderful stay and will hopefully return
Great week spent at this fantastic house, great location, comfortable, spotless, well equipped and so cozy! Hamper of treats was so welcome after a long trip! Highly recommend this property!
A beautiful cottage that was excellently presented with an amazing welcome pack. We had a fabulous holiday.
Fabulous property, spacious, comfortable, very well equipped, great location, lovely welcome pack.
Probably the bestequipped selfcatering holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in, and very comfortable. The unexpected welcome pack was very generous.
A clean comfortable cosy cottage in a great location. The owner was particularly helpful and welcoming.
The cottage is spacious, very clean and well equipped. There was a very generous welcome basket and other extras which made it most pleasant. The view and the location for sightseeing are excellent.
Really nice place, well appointed, clean and welcoming.
The cottage was extremely well equipped and comfortable. The views were fabulous. We really loved our stay there and would book again in the summer.
We had a lovely time at the cottage. It was in an excellent position to both explore the coast and inland. The cottage had everything we needed and more. Fabulous welcome pack! It was very comfy, cosy and clean throughout. We were made to feel very welcome.
Lovely cottage, great location, and very clean, tidy and comfortable. Fantastic welcome provisions.
