Glenander Reviews

The house is a great size and perfect for a big group never felt like we were on top of each other at all. Really great house. Two minor niggles. The sharp knives in the kitchen need replaced or sharpened as they are no longer sharp. Given the size of the house a second fridge in the utility would be an amazing addition. The description reads as though there is a jack and jill bathroom between two of the bedrooms and this is not the case. This description should be updated. However, other than that the house is as described! Our group ranged from aged 4 to 65 and everyone loved the house. Perfect location too. Would really recommend and we would absolutely come back.

Lovely cottage, lots of space for all 9 of us. Well equipped kitchen and lots of bathrooms. Jack and Jill bathroom doesnt open up onto a second bedroom which was a little misleading. Well placed for the beach just a 10 minute walk away. We managed to park 3 cars just up the road. Wed love another visit.
We had a lovely break with 5 adults, 4 children and a dog. I was worried that no parking would be an issue in August, but we were fine. Getting to the beach was a nice walk through Bamburgh village. The kids loved the playground opposite inside the walled garden. We had driven from Cheshire and Worcestershire and arrived later afternoonevening. It was a bit of a shame that there wasn't a welcome pack with milk as there aren't any convenience stores in the village. Luckily we had done an online shop so we didnt have to jump back in the car.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Glenander. The property was very comfortable and well equipped and we had a great holiday. Parking is a problem but it was made clear that it is on street parking. The information folder could be more detailed particularly regarding bin day etc. It would have been helpful to have been informed about the lack of a garden particularly as we have a dog we did cope ok though. There were two dining room chairs that were not safe to sit on. These have been left by the patio door. There were no hand towels in the kitchen downstairs loo. All in all we had a great holiday and will come back to Bamburgh.
Glenander is an excellent property with a perfect location just 10 minute walk to the beach and Castle. Really good size bedrooms, and ample room for everyone in the sitting room and in the lounge. Ideal for a family gathering or friends celebrating.
Susanna
Glenander was a superb base for a holiday for 7 extended family members. Its position in Bamburgh was spot on for exploring the village and the wider area. The house is clean, airy and light with lots of space, a comfortable sitting room, large bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms and a very well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed freshly squeezed orange juice using the juicer and a variety of coffee using either the Nespresso machine or the filter one. Its in a peaceful position with lovely views from the back bedrooms. The twin in the first floor was ok for one adult but would have been a squeeze for two it is perhaps more suitable for children. As has been mentioned in other reviews, parking can be difficult particularly on a summer Saturday when Bamburgh is inundated with day trippers. We did have a small mpv to park, which didnt help! and I mostly managed to find onroad parking nearby, but did have to use the car park below the castle on the Saturday. I would highly recommend Glenander and I would happily book it again.

We were staying to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday, it was a lovely base for exploring the area. We felt like the photos didnt do the property justice. Would definitely stay again.
Steven
Well kitted out house, plenty of space for 10 adults, great location, nice warm house, 4 en suites and downstairs toilet were a welcome bonus, only one minor point toilet seat was loose in the mid floor double bedroom. Would definitely recommend this house and would love to come back.
A really great, spacious, clean and comfortable property that made for a very relaxing break. Only very minor improvements to suggest are that the single yale lock on the front door doesn't give enough peace of mind for security. There is evidence of an additional mortice lock but no key provided. Also the front door couldn't be held closed, without being locked, which makes loading and unloading more time consuming than it need be. Hand rails for the lesssteady guests would be useful please.

Lovely house and we had a great week. However, a few niggles The clocks hadn't been changed There was a light out in the hall and on the first floor landing we found bulbs but nothing to stand on to change them. Fire in the lounge tried to use one afternoon when the room was chilly no instructions and couldn't get it to work. Shower top floor front slide not working and shower could have been cleaner. This didn't really affect our week as I said niggles.
Very happy with the holiday home. It was clean and well maintained. The house was bigger than we expected but still warm and comfortable. The only issue we had was parking. There is free roadside parking outside but it was very busy and any space was taken within minutes of becoming free. There is plenty of free parking in the village but again it can be very busy and abit of a walk. I can imagine at peak summer times it could be very difficult to park.

Ideal location, great house for a family holiday. Some maintenance issues, light bulbs needing replaced and toilet seats needing repaired. We had a 4 hour power cut on the Sunday during our stay, emergency lighting came on briefly. There were no candles and only one torch, we had a 5 year old and a 1 year old with us. Additional emergency lighting is definitely required in the future.
Ronald
Lack of dedicated parking should be mentioned. No garden space should be mentioned.Vacuum cleaner very awkward to use. Some lack of maintenance eg light bulbs needing replaced, toilet seat dangerously loose.Orherwise a lovely holiday house We would return in a flash
Amanda
Fantastic property. Very well appointed with everything required for a great family holiday. Great service as when we arrived the main door was very difficult to open and close but when we reported this a maintenance man came to fix it within the hour, fantastic service, thank you. Will definitely book again next year. So comfortable.
Loved our stay. Plenty of room for all the family. All the bathrooms are to a high standard. Only one tiny issue. The front door handle was very difficult to turn. I am sure a spray of WD40 will solve it. Thankyou for a great stay.
A spacious house which easily accommodates 10 people plus two dogs. No garden, just a very tiny space outside the back door with two chairs, parking space not always available outside the house as visitors parked there, but we didnt find it too much of a problem. Great location, lovely pubs and cafes yards away and an easy walk to the beach

This was our families 2nd stay at Glenander and everyone was looking forward to it. On entering the lounge the doorknob came off in my hand...not even screwed on. The front doorknob wouldn't turn so we were locked in. My son in law managed to pull the spindle out and reset the doorknob. We had planned various meals each evening but couldn't get the main oven to work, my husband spoke to Haley and the maintenance man fixed it a couple of days later on the Thursday. In spite of the blips we had another memorable holiday and my 3 grandchildren loved being with all the family.
I wish I'd gone back and reread tge info . As u mentioned at the time of booking I was starting cancer treatment and really struggled getting around
Another fantastic week at Glenander. The house is absolutely wonderful, clean, comfortable, homely and spacious. Ideally situated for exploring the Northumberland coastline with Bamburgh itself having fantastic pubs and an amazing butchers shop. If we return to Bamburgh, then Glenander would be our first choice.
House amenities were great. Plenty of space for the number of guests. Even the lounge had correct seating for us all and bonus of large TV. Impressed with bedroom sizes and the modern ensuites. Its unusual to find plenty of cutlery and crockery, so happy this was considered. Bonus of an espresso machine! We nipped into Seahouses to pick up some family and used the traffic cones in the front garden to try keep the coveted spot very briefly. One recommendation would be to change the double and king to super kings as bedrooms are fabulously large enough and those used to bigger beds would sleep better.
Some repair to the extractor fan above the cooker is needed. Published bed types were not as expected. we expected at last 3 doubles and did not ask for extra singles. However when we arrived there were 3 sets of twin beds and 2 doubles. we were a group of 6 adults 3 married couples and 4 teenagers. However we had a really good week in an excellent location. The house was very clean and warm and enjoyed by all. Jan Jones

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Glenander as we have before. A great house for large family groups with plenty of space ideally placed to enjoy Bamburgh. Only criticism the headboards on the single beds in one of the bedrooms were broken and loose. Other than that I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Bamburgh.
It needs better maintenance, the water damaged ceiling hadn't been painted, the downstairs toilet sink was reported by the previous tenant but wasn't repaired, and the sofa was stained. The dining table and sofas could only comfortably accommodate 8 people. The patio was tiny and unusable. The house itself was lovely, comfortable, excellent location, but it could have been fabulous.
We had a brilliant time in this lovely house. Eight of us were very comfortable in this spacious and well equipped home. With everything on the doorstep the location could not have been better and so easy to explore Northumberland. Would definitely book again.
Rachel
Lovely house great location and very spacious for 9 adults and a dog . Small back yard area totally dog proof . Well equipped kitchen
Beautiful house in a beautiful location. All rooms were very spacious and lovely decor. 4 out of the 5 bedrooms had ensuites which was great as there was 10 of us staying for the weekend so plenty of room for us all. Kitchen had everything you need and there is a utility room with washer and dryer if needed. A great stay celebrating my 50th birthday with family, would highly recommend a visit! Thank you.
Christine
What a beautiful house! There was loads of space for the seven of us to celebrate our daughters 50th birthday. The only problem during the day was parking but once we got a spot in the evening, the cars were left so we could enjoy the hostelries in the village. We had a great week in Bamburgh, despite the cool weather, and were able to explore the area too on the local bus. Would definitely go back!
Siobhan
Great house. Fab location.
Cheryl
Eight of us plus Harry the dog had a wonderful stay at Glenander. The property was clean, comfy & well equipped. The 4 ensuites were an amazing bonus. I highly recommend a stay there.
Glenander is a fantastic house, clean, comfortable and simply home from home. A good sized kitchen and dining area, nice lounge and comfortable beds. We were a party of 7 plus 2 dogs and the house was perfect. Ideally situated for exploring the beautiful Northumberland coastline and surrounding areas. Good pubs within walking distance and a superb butchers nearby. We would definitely book this for any future holidays in Bamburgh.
I would thoroughly recommend this accommodation. Fab location and very good amenities. Could not fault it
