Castle View (Glororum) Reviews

The property had all the amenities you need and the bedrooms were very comfortable. the beds were good but a few things let it down. the place was very dusty and quite a few cobwebs in all rooms, The shower was not very good with the spray being too powerful and no adjustments worked. the wifi was very poor and although we had a nice week we won't go back.
Lots of dust and cobwebs. Otherwise perfect
What can we say? Simply a Home from Home. If you can find a BETTER cottage than this, then go for it. But it is not only the PERFECT Cottage the location is also Perfect for a Very Mature South Yorkshire couple God's Own County in Northumria. Very friendly local people and very helpful. Suggestion? I wanted a boiled egg fro breakfast. ODD I know, but no egg cups so no Eggie Soldiers Probably unheard of by our London dwellers where our son lives! Cutting this ramble short A Perfect cottage, a Perfect stay in a Perfect County!
Great location and parking. Closes enough to Bamburgh without being caught up in the challenge of parking there. Some lovely walks either from the cottage via Budle Bay or from a 10 minute car ride. Great location for a dog accompanied holiday in particular.
The cottage itself is in a lovely peaceful location, just beware though that walking anywhere directly from the property involves walking along country roads with no pavements. The beds are extremely comfortable, but my request for the 2nd room to be made up as a twin, was not actioned which was far from ideal. The wifi is very poor, which affects watching tv constant lagging and buffering. The dishwasher wasn't working. The tiny yard at the rear is not secure enough for a small dog as they can easily get between the wooden fencing rails. Trying to contact the owner, or anyone from Sykes, was nigh on impossible. However, we did have a very pleasant few days and the location is a good base from which to explore the beautiful area.
Very comfortable and well equipped property ideally situated about a mile from the centre of Bamburgh. Plenty of parking space at the property which is excellent and your stay is free from worry in this respect. Five minute drive to the beach for early morning walk with the dog! My wife has limited mobility and this property was very suitable for her requirements. Would not hesitate to book in the future.

Well appointed clean and good location. Rooms clean and comfortable. The only bugbear was lack of platescutlerydishesmugs etc, which meant having to do a partial dish wash after every meal, rather than one more economical one at the end of the day.
Rebecca
Nice property, good location with parking. comfy beds and plenty of facilities in the house. The only minor issue, was the internet was pretty slow and there wasnt a phone signal. But otherwise, nice property
Michelle
Dirty, grubby,in every room Dust ,muck, mould ,spiders webs old behind draws trying to turn lamp on in bedroom so noticed and in kitchen near fridge Dirty mucky kettle full of limescale and smeared. Mould in bedroom with big wardrobes on wall Curtain full of dust never been cleaned this year Dust in room on nice ornaments Coffee table full off crumbs Fridge got bits black on inside Tellevision broke in lounge sykes did change it .had to go buy a kettle they never exchanged it .we never saw the email about us contacting the cleaner till the next day .didn't think we should have to .so apart from what we couldn't do ,we cleaned it . Lastly you need to leave suitable cleaning materials I had to wash the brush full of old hair leaves .not what you should have to do on holiday. It's such a shame because the house is so beautiful just needs a real good deep clean .can send pictures.
Despite 2 emails, trying to phone several times, and using the app, which unhelpfully told me I had no upcoming bookings, I couldn't get any reply to my requests for the big bed to be made up as twins! The place itself was well located and very nice, if slightly unclean at the edges. The directions and info re keys was good. Just felt impossible to contact anyone.
Very nice property clean and comfortable good location with lovely views of castle
Maxine
Lovely property, great location could not fault the accommodation at all. Would definitely stay there again.
The property was lovely, the owner had thought of everything and was clean and comfortable. Wifi was slow but this can be expected in rural locations.
Graham
Another wonderful stay with family at Castle View cottage, our fourth! Wonderful location fantastic wee cottage.
Excellent location Excellent accommodation Highly recommended Thank for a lovely break
Very enjoyable stay. Would book again in the future.
Elaine
A beautiful little cottage warm and cosy and on the outskirts of Bamburgh, we really enjoyed our stay here , plenty of room for the 2 of us , kitchen was great for utensils, make sure you bring teabags , sugar etc as there was only salt and pepper in the cupboard.
After being let down by another holiday cottage firm at last minute literally cancelled stay the day before we were due to arrive, we used Sykes cottages to book Castle View. Nicky from Sykes was really helpful getting in touch with the owner to see if they would accommodate us at such short notice. Payment and confirmation were really well handled as was the information sent via email. The cottage itself was really cosy, loved the log burner. Kitchen was really well equipped and decorating throughout was nice. It's just over a mile to walk into Bamburgh and it's down a lane with no pavement so care needs to be taken when walking in. We tended to take the car down to Bamburgh then explore from there. All in all a great week away.
Heather
Had a lovely holiday, very peaceful, lovely views and the cottage had everything we needed and the shower was hot. Only downside was that we think the people before us had a dog and the property hadn't been properly hooveredswept so had to hoover on arrival but don't let this put you off as we would book again.
Fabulous location. This quiet, clean and well placed holiday home offers everything you could need for an enjoyable stay. So nice to find a property with a comfortable and large bed! Smart TV was a nice surprise too. As mentioned in a previous review our only disappointment with the property was the hot water temperature. A hot shower would have been nice!
Jeremy
This cottage is in a beautiful location. Its has a welcoming modern interior with a well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. Previous reviews reported a musty smell in the hall and the water for the shower not being hot enough we would agree with this feedback but it didnt interfere greatly with our stay.
John Andrew
It was roomier than expected. Lots of utensils but struggled with the cooker for one meal until we worked out the fan oven was the most trustworthy option. The location was fantastic with wonderful views of the castle.
TV reception very bad understand safety rules but shower luke warm
Beautiful cottage, amazing views and had everything we needed
A cosy cottage with everything that we required for a lovely few days. As owners ourselves of a cottage in Bamburgh it was a pleasure to enjoy a cottage without having to do chores to fix things. A quieter setting at Glororum which was a welcome change from busy Bamburgh at new year. Thank you, we loved our stay.
This is the second visit to this lovely cottage. ......for us, it is perfect. We will be back!
Thank you for a most comfortable stay at Castle View. Everything has been thought of, very relaxing and perfect for enjoying the Northumbrian Coast. We will return!
We had a lovely time exploring the Coast and relaxing in this perfect Cottage!
Cottage well equipped, well maintained, and comfortable. Great base for visiting all of Northumberland&39s delights.
Wish we could have stayed at least another week have totally fallen for Northumberland. The cottage has been a perfect wellequipped and comfy base for us all .
Lovely clean cottage and well equipped with everything that you could need.
This is a modern, wellequipped property close to the attractive village of Bamburgh spacious enough for the needs of the holiday maker. The central heating is on demand and very efficient.
Overall a beautiful cottage in a beautiful place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The house was very well maintained, comfortable and warm. Everything in the house seemed new and a high quality. It was about two miles to the nearest village and beach of Bamburgh which are lovely places to visit.
