Castle View (Bamburgh) Reviews

Castle view is perfectly placed for an amazing break in Northumberland. We found it clean fresh and extremely comfortable. The welcome pack was an unexpected gift, thank you. We found parking easy next to to bungalow every day. The only slight boggle was the location of the garden gate having a dog with us would of been great if it were moved forward a little so we didnt have to use the lead every time we let him out for fear of him running away. Perfect week away in a perfect house.
Elaine
The cottage was warm, cosy, well appointed and simply delightful. It was very well positioned, only a five minute walk to the pubs and restaurants and a few minutes more to the amazing beach. It was a great base for exploring the stunning Northumberland coast.
Lovely little place, didn't have any issues with parking I know some other reviewers did. Good location in Bamburgh.
Jonathan
A lovely cottage on the edge of Bamburgh with the most amazing view of the castle. Just a two minute wander into the village with excellent dining options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very well equipped kitchen in the cottage with everything you need. Also plenty of basics and some lovely welcome goodies. Would be very happy to stay again in the future. Thanks for a lovely stay.
We had a fantastic stay at Castle View. Central location so beach shop and restaurants within walking distance. View of castle from dining table. All you need for your stay is available. We had blustery weather and the bungalow was always warm and cosy on our return. Would definitely return and recommend.
Lovely cottage peaceful clean and a wonderful view . Definitely recommend
We have stayed at Castle View four times, before and after the renovations. We love the cottage, it has everything one could need and is warn, clean and comfortable. The large window overlooking the castle is inspired and makes the most of an excellent location.
Andrew
Ideal location in the heart of Bamburgh, 5 minutes from several restaurantspubs 10 minutes to the castle. As we had two dogs the enclosed garden gate should have been on the left of the exterior door. There is always potential for dogs to bolt as you open the rear door.
This is an absolutely fantastic cottage, spotlessly clean everywhere, everything we could possibly need was included. The welcome pack of wine, chocolates & snacks was a great addition. Really can't fault this cottage beds were really comfy. The view from the living room window of the castle is truly outstanding. The prime location makes this a great place for exploring the Northumberland coast! Would definitely make a return visit!

Well appointed Conveniently situated close to the shops and castle Spotlessly clean Owner left goodies on arrival milk, wine and nibbles which after a long journey was well appreciated Quiet location with lovely neighbours

Fabulous cottage in a great location! Comfy beds, well equipped, good storage for a family of 4 and a dog! Few kitchen items could do with renewing pans, Utensils etc Also beautiful flowers down the path but they actually block your entrance with suitcases etc so to protect them they need tying back to a trellis or similar. Final comment, if the side gate was moved past the side door it would make life much easier trying to let your dog out in the courtyard.
Claire
We had an amazing week staying at Castle View. Bamburgh is our family happy place and to have this view of the castle every day just blew us away. The cottage was cosy and had everything we needed. The little treats left for us were a lovely touch too. We will definitely be back!
Danyal
Great place to stay, that view is amazing
First of all we had a lovely stay. House was clean and tidy and a good base to go off exploring. It wasnt without minor niggles though. Unfortunately the pint of milk in the fridge was off, and we were only provided with 1 toilet roll had to buy more. The parking was troublesome at times. Other than that all was good.

Bearing in mind we are dog owners, we arrived to find a trodden dog poo behind the garden gate, which is the route to the bin! ! Not pleasant. The Cottage smelt of dog, which even as dog owners we found offensive. There was also a cracked wine glass in the cupboard. The view of the castle is impressive, however the large wooden power pylon less so. Would I rush back no
Thoroughly enjoyed staying at Castle View with it's wonderful view of Bamburgh Castle. We were last there in 2015 and appreciated all the work done to the property especially the kitchenmain living area. Well done.
Carolyn
Very clean, well equipped and very comfortable with an amazing view of the castle from the lounge. Lovely to have a welcome pack on arrival. In a superb location with parking which is always a bonus in Bamburgh. Will definitely be booking the cottage again.
Yvonne
The house was very nicely decorated and comfortable. The renovation has transformed the property. However rather than wine and chocolates in the welcome pack a pint of milk and dishwasher tablets would be more useful There was no information on how to use the fire or how to put the bathroom radiator on. It was difficult to dry towels after showering.
We had an amazing week! The cottage is well kitted out. The location is superb. To make it even better would suggest 1 move the garden gate towards the front so you can get straight into the garden from the back door, also safe then to leave back door open and dogs wander about. 2 a bigger airer for drying clothes towels etc indoors 3 washing line outside.
Lovely cottage in a great location in the village of Bamburgh. Well appointed, clean and comfortable. Handy for pubs, restaurants and shops and a good location for exploring the area. Parking is a bonus but is a bit tricky as you have to reverse into the space down a short culdesac, but OK once you've got the hang of it.
This is a lovely little property, very convenient for everything in Bamburgh. Very clean and well cared fo but just a couple of suggestions... The property would benefit from the gate being in front of the door so it could be left open and allow dogs access to the garden. I would also suggest curtains in the main bedroom as it was very light just with the blinds. We had a lovely stay at this cottage and would come again if we were staying in the area.

We've just enjoyed a lovely week away at Castle View. The cottage was genuinely spotless on arrival we are very fussy and it is obviously well maintained. Plenty of kitchen utensils, pots and pans to use and the heating works well on colder evenings keeping things very cosy. The view of the castle is fantastic due to the clever architectural feature window. The shower worked well and the bathroom was ample for the 2 of us. We would highly recommend this as a Bamburgh bolthole to explore the area from.
The property was as described and a fabulous view which we didnt tire of. It was well equipped and the beds and settees very comfortable. Good to have the instructions for the appliances so that could use those properly. The walk in shower was great as my husband has a back problem and climbing into a bath too difficult. It felt as if everything had been carefully planned to make the best use of space and good quality products. We didnt sit in the garden as we were out and about but had we wanted to it was good to see furniture both front and back garden. A minor niggle was the lack of curtains in the double bedroom as the blinds were insufficient to block light. The welcome pack was a nice touch. It was immaculately clean. The location is ideal for quick access to the beach, Bamburgh and in a quiet cul de sac.
We first visited Castle View a few years ago and what a stunning transformation! Gorgeous cottage in a great location, compact and well designed. Our week here was sunny but very cold and the cottage was so warm and cosy with all the facilities we needed. Hopefully well be back again soon
Rachel
We had a lovely stay at Castle View. Everything was lovely and clean and fully equipped. The layout was nicely thought out and lovely to sit and look at Bamburgh Castle at meal times. Great for Hal the dog and great position to head to the beach. We parked near the green which wasnt a problem for us as we could park the car opposite the property to pack and unpack. Loved the decor, v relaxing colour scheme. Beds were comfy. All in all a super compact and comfortable cottage. Thanks for the welcome box.
Lovely cottage in a fantastic location for access to the villagebeach as well as other nearby locations. The whole family had a wonderful break over Christmas. Parking was a bit tricky but a minor issue
The property was clean tidy and well maintained. The view of the castle was spot on and the access from the property at the rear to the village was ideal and the welcome pack was appreciated The only criticism was that the gate into the rear of the property should be on the other side of the door and the parking should be incorporated where the gravel is located immediately in front of the property as although there is a space opposite this is restricted by the user of the space in front and would be a nightmare in the summer months
Very comfortable and cosy cottage in a good location for local amenities. As a result of recent renovations Castle View certainly lives up to its name. The welcome pack of wine and biscuits was much appreciated.
Lovely bungalow just outside the centre of Bamburgh about 5 mins walk to the centre of the village with its pubs, shops and restaurants and 10 minutes to the castle. Comfortable, cosy, and well equipped, the lounge is spacious and has stunning views across fields to the castle itself. That it has a designated onstreet parking space is a bonus as parking in Bamburgh is at a premium. It's a bit tight and you have to reverse into it, but once you've got the knack it isn't a problem. Highly recommended and we plan to return.
Lovely comfortable property, very modern and well equipped. The location is perfect, with views over the castle and farmland. 3 minute walk and youre in the pub, perfect! Lovely welcome when we got there with a bottle of wine in the fridge and some snacks which is always a nice touch. Plenty of storage for self caterers, big fridge with freezer, plenty of room to hang clothes, washerdryer, iron ironing board, airer, got everything, fully loaded as some might say! We were very impressed. Now for the negatives which I dont like doing because we had such a lovely visit but I feel other potential visitors might wish to know about. Firstly, there is a parking space but its not the easiest of spaces to park in, if you are not confident with parallel parking you may find it a bit tricky, unfortunately the chap who lives at number 18 whos parking spot is in front feels inclined only to leave you the minimum amount of room, very neighbourly of him. Another issue we found was that the gate is the wrong side of the back door. It would have been nice to leave the door open without fear of the dogs escaping. Another issue which was rather unpleasant but no fault of the home owners was when we arrived, like most people we open the windows to let fresh air in to the property unpacked then sat outside for a bit with a glass of wine, when we went back inside, the property was full of flies, to the extent that we had to drive into town just to buy some fly spray. We understand that this is no fault of the owners and the property is adjacent to fields with cattle in them. However to all future holidaymakers I would strongly suggest not opening the windows in the second bedroom! All being said we had a great time and would definitely stay at the property again and recommend it to others. I would like to have given it 4 and a half stars but there is no option.
Shelley
Really lovely, amazingly situated, clean and very comfortable and with all the mod cons needed. Would definitely come back if heading north again.
Lovely cottage in a perfect location with fantastic views A perfect cottage for ... Lovely cottage in a perfect location with fantastic views A perfect cottage for our first Northumberland experience We will certainly be back
Lovely cottage in a great location. Cant fault it. The only minor problem we had was that our 2 Labradors could easily escape the yard so couldnt go out there without a lead on. Would definitely rebook.

Cottage was exactly as described, clean and well equipped. The view of the castle was absolutely stunning! We will definitely be back as we visit Bamburgh often, and now know the ideal place to stay.
Cosy cottage with an excellent view of Bamburgh Castle. A bottle of wine in the fridge was a welcome sight on arrival! This is the third year we have stayed in this cottage and fully intend to visit next year. Our granddaughter who accompanied us loves it.
Good location. Handy for walking to local pubs etc. Lovely view of the castle from the back garden. Heating keeps the lounge nice and warm. Double bed is very comfortable. Would stay here again.
Nice cosy cottage. Good location, short walk to all pubs, cafes, beach and shops in Bamburgh.
A very comfortable and well presented cottage, nicely finished with a bottle of wine in the fridge and a bunch of daffodils on the table. We had a most enjoyable week.
