Betony Reviews

Our second stay at Betony, just as perfect as our first. Welcoming, clean, comfortable and located in such a quiet position, absolutely ideal for our needs.
Everything was perfect. We were so comfortable and everything had been thought of. We really liked the Christmas tree.
We stayed for two nights as two families four adults and four children aged 9, 9, 5, and 4 and had a lovely time. The property was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. It was very well equipped, with everything we needed for preparing dinners and cooked breakfasts. The only small niggle was the cutlery set I cant think of how to describe it other than the kind where the handles and heads are clipped together should be permanently but a few pieces were very loose. Otherwise, everything we could have wanted was provided. The view of Bamburgh Castle was beautiful, and the location is excellent less than a fiveminute drive to the castle and beach. Definitely walkable for grownups, though we opted for the car rather than testing the stamina or patience! of the little ones. Overall, a lovely stay in a wellpresented property. Wed happily return and would recommend it to families looking for a comfortable base near Bamburgh.

We stayed for the weekend to celebrate my hubby's 60th & found the lodge amazing. Only a 20 min walk & 5 min drive away from Bamburgh & 19 min drive from Seahouses, perfect quiet location with views of Bamburgh Castle. Accommodation very impressive, we will definitely be regular customers.
Michael
Lovely lodge with facilities to match. The view of the castle was a joy to have during breakfast. Very quiet and close to all the Northumbrian attractions. My wife has limited mobility and the level floors and access were great. We took a shower seat for my wife to use which was fine, a grab handle in the shower would have made it perfect. I would recommend this accommodation to all.
Lovely comfortable, home from home accommodation. Everything you could wish for, from the comfy living space and beds. A peaceful, pleasant out door space with lovely views of the castle and countryside. Great location for visiting this beautiful area. Thank you for the welcome pack and allowing us to share Betony. We will definitely be rebooking.
Beautifully appointed and laid out lodge in a fantastic location for exploring the area.
Barbara
Excellent will book again
The lodge is situated in an old quarry with around 20 others of the same design. The lodge is lovely clean and well kitted out. The temperature and pressure of the water is fantastic, the bath is full in 2 minutes! Towels and bedding all lovely with comfortable beds. My only small complaint is not being able to check in until 5pm. This is almost a full day and it meant we hit the rush hour traffic. Other places are usually 3pm which is an ideal time. You have to check out at 10am so I think 7 hours to clean it is excessive. I would certainly recommend the lodge it is so peaceful with lovely countryside views.
Excellent stay we had the wow factor when we got there if I was going to be picky it would be that could do with form of blinds on the front as it's impossible to watch the TV. Overall brilliant stay and we have decided to come back
Lovely stay. Wonderful modern clean property and great location. Watched Barn Owl nesting in tree, hares and deer from the dinning table. Welcome food treats very appreciated, though chocolate melted in the sun as kitchen table getting full heat of midday sun. Would recommend.
We stayed for a week in April. Loved the house, with an amazing view of Bamburgh Castle! It had everything we needed, comfortable and homely. Great location for exploring this stunning area of the country. Would recommend
We enjoyed our stay at Betony. The property was very clean and wellequipped it was light, comfortable with plenty of space for two families and a dog. The location was good we liked the view of the castle and the walks through the countryside although one section of the most direct walk into Bamburgh is on the road. A great lodge and a great base for exploring Northumberland!
Just back from 4 nights stay in Betony. We had an absolutely wonderful time. The property is as described. It is lovely and quiet but lots of fab places are really accessible by car. The property was well spaced for 6 of us, it was very clean and had all the inventory we required we mostly ate in. I think the property must have been empty immediately prior to us as it was really cold when we got there Fully appreciate the weather has been really cold this week! it took a good 24 hours to heat up properly, but once it was warm it was lovely. Not a complaint and as we were out and about it didn't bother us too much. I'd also suggest taking some toilet rolls as we ran out of the ones provided again not a complaint, just info I find handy on reviews! Would thoroughly recommend.
Caroline
Beautiful, well maintained spacious property with everything you might wish for in a holiday let. Stunning setting. Amazing location to discover the gorgeous Northumberland coastline. Welcome pack perfect, even had a dog ball for Timba
Christopher
Lovely accommodation and location.
George
This was everything we expected, and more. Stunning lodge and location, built, designed and furnished to the highest quality. Plenty good restaurants around eg The Apple Inn at Lucker, 23 miles away, and an excellent full breakfast at the Purdy Lodge. Couple of slight suggestions the excellent Welcome Info Pack might be placed 'on display' on arrival, rather than being put in a drawer, and some of the cooking pans were past their best. But these tiny points in no way detracted from a hugely enjoyable stay. We will certainly be back.
Alison
We just had a wonderful week at Betony in September 2024. The location is quiet and beautiful with a distant view of Bamburgh Castle and surrounded by cows and sheep. I enjoyed waking early to see the hares too. Betony is warm and comfortable with a good bed and mattress in the main bedroom we only used that bedroom so can't comment on the others. Both showers were effective too. We found the location very convenient for travelling around Northumberland. Betony really is a home from home.
Hannah
Very clean and comfortable for 8 people. Lovely peaceful location with great views and outside space. We loved watching the wildlife including hares and barn owls. Generally very well equipped with a great kitchen. However we did find the number of cutlery and plates a little limiting for meals for eight at times. Inside space worked really well for us. Really comfortable dining and living spaces. Lovely light bright and modern interior. Thanks for a great holiday.
Lovely stay at this property. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. Only negative comment is regarding the check in and check out times. We feel the price was very expensive when we basically only had 2 full days stay.
Victoria
A beautiful property in a beautiful location. Comfortable and clean. It was very well equipped with everything we needed.
Graham
Amazing cottage. Amazing facilities for 2 families to holiday.
The cottage was lovely. Bright and airy. We were really pleased with the facilities but surprised that there was not a hairdryer . The surroundings were beautiful and it was a quick ten minutes by car into Bamburgh. We were disappointed that check in was not until 5 and then out by 10 since the request was to strip all the beds etc., We would return though.
A wardrobe in the master bedroom would be a bonus. Location is in the countryside with pleasant views over pastures. It is quiet and is ideally located for beaches, attractions and restaurantspubs which are within a few minutes drive.
Alison
We had an amazing stay at the Betony. Lovely lodge in great location. Only issues a gate on the railings would be more secure for dogs or children to prevent them from wandering as there is a lot of cattle & sheep in the fields right next to lodge and outside area is really dark at night. Outdoor cushions for furniture could also be doing with a wash.
Gorgeous lodge with everything we needed for a wonderful stay. We only wished we were staying longer. Gate on the veranda would have made it easier with dogs and young children. A quick guide on oven Wouldve been useful as took us a while reading manual to get it going. All minor issues. Beds were comfortable. Wouldve liked to have been able to turn off towel rail in bathroom as was very hot with children. Would definitely recommend and return.
Had a super holiday thankyou, although took s little time to work the heatingwater out The boys loved the cows and sheep although I might not have booked if Id know as was a little bit of s worry with the dog That said we had a great time Thankyou. A much needed get away
Vanessa
The site is tucked away approximately 2. 25 miles west of Bamburgh Village, and is easy to find. I would suggest to help those who do not have satNav that a sign is positioned either end of the lane to which Brada Lodges sit giving a direction as does the other holiday parks along the lane. The lodge itself is lovely, but would recommend the use of washable paint in areas in heavy use such as the bin area, down the side of hand basinstoilets. Also, the outside of the ensuite shower needs a little attention with a bit of water damage. However, we loved the lodge and its situation in the open countryside, and is an ideal spot as a base to investigate the area further. Its located close to the historic Bamburgh Castle, its beautiful beach and sand dunes, and close to the Farne Islands famous for their wildlife habitats. We loved the place so much we have booked Betony Lodge for August 2023.
Amazing break. Very close to beach and Zoo. On site park was great for kids. Very clean lodge and had everything we needed. Just perfect!
We enjoyed our stay in the lodge. However, the cleanliness of the lodge was not up to the standard we expected. Its needs a through deep clean. The dining seat covers were stained and grubby, the cushion covers grubby. Dinning table sticky all over. On moving the coffee machine there were stains on the bench. Corner of shower showed black mildew needed resealing. Cobwebs around the window needed cleaning. Greasy oven trays.
We enjoyed our stay, loved the location but were not happy with the cleanliness of the soft furnishings or bedding or table. . The duvets were stained, cushions were pretty dirty and when we arrived the second bedroom had pubic hair on the sheets and one of the pillows was stained with what we thought was makeup. The vacuum cleaner base was so full of dirt and hair we had to spend time picking it clean.. The dining table was sticky and despite trying to clean it many times it remained sticky to the touch, not a good table to eat at!.All in all the overall cleanliness was not what we are used to at home so we could not class the lodge as a home from home due to the cleanliness issues I have described.. Other than these points we enjoyed our break.
What an amazing weekend we have all had at Betony, beautiful stunning views and lovely location. Lodge was equipped with everything we needed for our stay and all beds were extremely comfy. Very good use of living space and kitchen table was perfect for us all to get together. Definitely going to rebook for another stay.
Michael
Lovely lodge in a brilliant location. Clean and modern with all facilities for self catering. Will definitely be staying again
Rebecca
Nice lodge. Taps and toilet seat need attention. Kids bedroom was lovely. Very expensive for a weekend stay
Philip
