Budle Bay Cottage Reviews

Simone
We had a wonderful twoweek stay at the lodge. The view over the bay is absolutely stunning, and being surrounded by rabbits, sheep and cows made the setting truly special. The rooms are well equipped, practical and very comfortable. We felt completely at home and would be delighted to return.
Raymond
Very untidy cottage in general. Lots of old brocken things in the cottage, Radio cd player, binoculars, clocks, kitchen equipment. All brocken. Rear garden table bench falling apart, front door old glass chair table dumped there. Rear exit door area building rubbish left here, old slates etc. 2nd bedroom has a full length mirror that you can not see the top of your body in .only positive was the location.
We thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful, comfortable and well equipped cottage. The cottage is very spacious with stunning views of sheep, cows, rabbits, the beach and the sea. Just a moment away from the stunning beach. The cottage has a coal fire with coal provided, there is no central heating, however, there are plugin heaters provided in all the rooms and plenty of blankets also provided. A very enjoyable stay, thank you. We have already booked again for next year.
Caroline
The cottage is in a fantastic position overlooking the Bay, Wonderful walks close by and amazing scenery. Unfortunately, it had been very cold before we stayed at the cottage and we had cold weather during our stay. We found the heating provided was not adequate. The kitchen and living area had one heater, but it was such a large open area that it was cold which was most unfortunate because we would have liked to have used this lovely light room looking out over the bay. We did have a ready supply of cut logs and coal for the fire in the small sitting room. The bathroom had a great shower, but we found due to the very cold weather that even with the electric towel rail radiator on it did not get warm enough. On reflection we felt it would have been better to visit in the summer.

Really lovely stay, I have to admit to not expecting much, the warnings of no central heating and the reasonable price led me to have low expectations. I was wrong, it's a lovely house. Yes there's no central heating and we took a couple of fan heaters which we used intermittently. The real fire in the lounge was great someone had set it up for us so one match and a short wait led to a perfectly hot fire thankyou. The kitchen is well appointed and we wanted for nothing. Location fabulous, 2 minutes to the beach for dog walks and evening aurora photos, shots ride to Banbugh and seahouses. Very clean and smelling fresh when we arrived. Without the fan heaters there would have been some chillness to the place and we did descale the kettle and coffee maker but no complaints whatsoever. We would return happily.
Fantastic location and place for access to Northumberland. Unbelievable views across the estuary. Good facilities and has everything you need. Particularly good for birdnature enthusiasts.
The location is absolutely stunning! Not having any central heating didnt bother us, the storage heater in the front room works well enough and the open fire made it very cosy. However its a shame we were having to boil any water before it was drinkable. The kettle was so full of limescale that the water was very gritty. The shower has very little pressure and only runs very very hot. Also thought 1 toilet roll and 1 bin liner for 4 people for a full week was a bit stingy. Other than that we had a lovely time walking on the beach and exploring the surrounding areas.

We enjoyed a really peaceful week at the cottage. Fearful of being cold because of non central heating we bought blankets and thermals we both remember 1977! but the fire was so efficient plus the storage heater and the towel rail we needn't have worried. The cottage is absolutely spotless, and the views fantastic, we met some lovely people whilst out walking and visited all the places we love. Our only sadness was that our old dog wasn't there too, we had to let him go a few weeks ago so it was just us. Thanks for letting us stay.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay here. A perfect location for exploring the coastline and it's wildlife as well as further inland. The cottage itself was very comfortable with everything you need with the added bonus of overlooking the bay and also the holy island. I don't like to boast too much about it as everyone will want to go
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. The view of the bay and proximity to the beach was amazing! The Cottage itself was cozy and clean ,the only downside was the shower, impossible to regulate the temperature.. Tanya
Loved the cottage and its location. Thanks
Lovely, quiet, off road location with ample parking. The Cottage was spacious, clean and comfortable. We only used the kitchen area but if cold the lounge would be very snug. Beautiful views. Advertised with bath but the bathroom has been updated and a walk in shower has replaced the bath. The WiFi is hit and miss depending on the time of day.
Great place to stay! Beautiful views on Budle Bay, beatiful surroundings. We loved staying here!
We loved the cottage, the views were amazing and it was so cosy. The only thing that let it down was a faulty shower. Ran mostly cold with the odd burst of hot water but it definitely got the blood pumping! Everything else was great but this needs looking at.

We noticed a big difference in cleanliness this year after coming for many years I used to have to clean the loo and get rid of the dust but not this time it smelt beautiful and clean and so much clutter had gone . WiFi and a big new television were very welcome . The sofa still has a sticky patch on it that you cant sit on and it was like that in May 2022 which I had mentioned still the same in Oct 2022 when we went and still the same Oct 2023 . Its also is too low to get out off . The thing that lets this lovely cottage down is the bathroom , no enamel on the bath looks dirty . We have friends in bamburgh so get a shower there . I cant understand why this hasnt been addressed . The outside also needs attention it looks unkept only needs rubbish moving and weeding . Otherwise its a beautiful cottage and lovely position .
The cottage is in a stunning location with breathtaking views. Its a comfy traditionally built stone built cottage with additional modernisation. It was good to have WiFi and we were informed that connection was better in some rooms than others . Plenty of space for a small family. We enjoyed the coal fire experience on a couple of nights all provided by the hosts. Lots of crockery and cooking utensils, coffee machine provided as well as cooker, microwave. Decent sized under bench fridge and freezer. Very comfy beds. Plenty of sofas and chairs. Board Games and CDs are available. We used the garden area for boules and games most days. We met the friendly hosts on day 1 and were given lots of helpful tips about the cottage and the immediate area. We were able to be relaxed and have an amazing time. We hope to be lucky enough to go back . We loved Budle Cottage.
What the cottage lacks in facilities it more than makes up for in position and views. This was our third visit, with a five year gap, there were improvements, the place had been decorated, the shower worked and the vacuum cleaner had been replaced. I suffer from arthritis & struggled with the tired old settees and the steps out the door. The furnishings are old and dont match which I suspect is because dogs are allowed but that does not concern us as we go because the hosts are really nice didnt seem them this time and they let us come with three dogs permission asked and we respect their property and Budle Bay is just the most amazing place. The kitchendinerliving area is so big we live in that area and keep the dogs there and dont allow them access the the rest of the cottage which means a lot less cleaning for us on departure. The views are stunning and we walking on the beach every morning watching the wildlife and enjoying the quiet. Stunning place.
The cottage is in a beautiful place, with beautiful views out to the sea, ... The cottage is in a beautiful place, with beautiful views out to the sea, unfortunately around the cottage is a lot of rubble and pipes and flags, out of the seven days we were there we had no running hot water for four days, had to boil pans of water to get washed and wash pots, the bedroom furniture could do with being updated as they are a bit dated, the bath could do with replacing as the enamel as worn off the bottom and it felt like sitting on rough sandpaper, the water pressure is quite poor also
Christine
Well situated with good views. The cottage could do with some TLC. The bathroom needs to be improved and kept clean, a new door would help. A matching set of cutlery is needed and some cleaning liquids would be an advantage. More could have been made of the outside facilities.
Always a lovely break we got great weather. The cottage is in a great position is not glamorous but has whats necessary for a relaxing holiday. We love it.
Lovely cottage in a quiet beautiful location, happily stay there again
The cottage was in an excellent location with commanding views across the bay towards Lindisfarne. However the over riding disappointment was that the shower was intermittent between hot and cold and impossible to regulate. Considerable money has obviously been spent on doors and windows but the bathroom was tired and shabby. The kitchen was adequate but a new set of cutlery wouldnt go amiss instead of the hotch potch of knives and forks provided. The rear entrance from the lane was also littered with old timber, stones and slates making access potentially hazourdous. Overall, the cottage itself was adequate but requires improvements to bring it up to what we expected from a SYKES property
The beautiful old large cottage one of 5 has the most amazing view onto the bay . It is down a private road so no traffic and just total peace .You are 1 minute from the beach . If you want stunning views and a clean lovely comfortable cottage then look no further than Budle Bay Cottage . The sunsets are amazing , with uninterrupted views all around the cottage
The situation of the property is ideal especially if you are a dog owner and even more if you are a birdwatcher. It keeps being improved and they clearly listen to comments made. It feels comfortable and you can truly relax. Easy access to north and south Northumberland but if you don&39t want to travel far there is no need. Try it, you won&39t regret it.
Nice cosy Cottage with a few quirky features, great views and and good base to explore the coast.
Recommended following visit last year and friends have been. Love the cottage and location, pleased to find the child gate in the property which we asked for last year. The cottage is basic but clean and has everything you need for a week away.
We have visited this particular property three times now and the extension to the kitchen is an amazing addition with views of Budle Bay and Holy Island. We would highly recommend this property to anyone who loves being this close to a beach, walking and watching wildlife. Fabulous place well worth a visit.
Great location to explore superb area near to a lovely bay ideal for good walks. It had just about everything you need.
A unique property in a unique place. Ideal for dog owners.
This cottage was great to use as a base to explore Northumberland and Scotland. The view from the cottage was outstanding and as it was almost on the beach there was plenty of wildlife to see.Our dogs loved the beach. Where else could you see Holy Island from your window every day?
This property is everything we expected. Clean and tidy, dog friendly, well equipt and with stunning views from the dining room windows. The owner is very friendly and there to help if needed. Minutes from the beach with miles of sand and sea for dog walking. This is our second visit, we love it and will most definitely return.
