Plover at Heather Cottages Reviews

Charlotte
Having just spent 2 weeks at stablewood coastal cottages, overall location was lovely at budle bay however several issues were encountered during our stay family of 4 and 2 small dogs, issue number 1 was the cleanliness of the cottage itself, very dissapointing and hasn't had a proper clean in what I would say a good 6 months the lingering smell of previous dogs and dust, when trying to use the hover the bag in the hover had clearly not been changed for months so couldn't pick anthing up and made things worse, issue number 2 as advised on the sheet of items in the cottage you could rent out a hot tub for an additional charge, we did this and however the maintenance team were good and came and set it up straight away we had problem after problem with it, a slow puncture that was clearly already there so the hot tub kept deflating, we had a constant error message even after the first use of the hot tub so after 2 weeks it was more trouble than it was worth at a cost of 180. Issue number 3 was the applewood inn that offers a discount if you go and eat there, I would advise you AVOID at all costs the service was terrible!! no one around the majority of the time, the food took over an hour to arrive and once it did arrive it was like slopdog food and we refused to eat any of the meals and left. There is massive improvements needed to this place to make it viable for a pleasant stay.
Very nice area and so close to the Beach, our Dog just loved it! Downsides The Cottage was very cold, there are inefficient Electric Heaters that struggle to keep the place warm, although there was the use of a Wood Burner, after the initial setting the Fire it failed to draw enough air to keep it alight! The Electric Shower was totally inadequate, next to no pressure available! There were no Emergency ContactInformationLeaflets available, one of us required Medical Care and the First Aid Kit was basically empty!
This cottage and particularly the location is fantastic! The advertising and images do not do it justice and should be updated. I will recommend these cottages to my friends and family without hesitation. The mattress in the double room really does need changing I notice this has been mentioned previously in other reviews. Apart from that, everything was excellent.
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The location right next to the beach was fabulous. The cottage itself was comfortable although a little bit tired, the double bed was not particularly comfortable and mattress creaky upon exiting. Some things were well worn, the table had lots of scratches and the chair legs were dangerously wobbly for example, we reported everything we found, but as it said you gad to report everything within 24hrs it wasn't the best start to our holiday thst we had to go round cataloguing everything, so that we weren't blamed for it. We liked the little veranda space, but found other people dogs in the shared space quite annoying, our neighbours dogs were very excitable and barked and jumped up whenever we went out the back, not sure which dog owners it was, but they also didn't pickup their dog litter straight away which wasn't very nice when we were trying to move across the shared space. I would definitely say the narrow stairs and downstairs bathroom, are not easy to negotiate particularly in the middle of the night. We ended up leaving the bathroom light on, so that we could see to get up and down without waking everyone up. Despite the small issues, we still had a really enjoyable stay.
A truly cute little cottage in a breathtaking location, metres from a beautiful beach, the cottage had everything we needed by way of crockery, cutlery etc and the hosts had left a small welcome package with, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, hot chocolate and a bottle of wine. The cottage was clean and comfortable enough but the double bed in master bedroom was very small and mattress wasn't great, so we ended up sleeping separately . The bathroom which is on the ground floor was large with a decent sized bath and plenty of hot water, alas the shower above the bath lacks power.A little toiletries pack would have been a nice touch too. The stair case is incredibly narrow especially the lower steps which twist around so wouldn't be the best to manoeuvre if you had any kind of mobility issues. We loved the inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove, but we weren't provided with enough fuel to last even one evening, you can BUY more but the welcome guide asks for 24 hours notice. However positives definitely outweigh any negatives and we would definitely return.

The location is superb. However we found the cottage very cramped for space and a little dark. The stairs are not ideal with being so twisty and narrow. The double bed is also very small, which meant we had to sleep in separate rooms. It is also very pet friendly. Not having the bathroom and toilet on same level as the bedrooms is a minus particularly in view of the narrowness of the twisty staircase.
Cottage cosy and location stunning.
Very clean good standard of towels and linen.
The property was fabulous with everything in it and more for a self catering holiday. It was nice and cosy and warm and comfortable. It was perfectly located, only a 2 minute walk to the beach with a fantastic sea view. And awesome sunsets!! It was one of the best holidays we have had. Perfect accomodation, location and so much to see in the area with incredible beaches for sea walks. Cant wait to go back next year!
Well equipped, good accommodation.
The cottage was simply charming, well equipped a real home from home. The standard throughout was high and we were very comfortable. My friend and I intend revisiting next year.
