Sawmill Cottage Reviews

We loved Sawmill cottage! The property was perfect for our three generations holiday with great inside and outside space. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated with comfortable beds and the open plan living space had all we needed. The extra touches of childrens toys, plates, cutlery was really thoughtful as was the bottle of Prosecco and fresh eggs. I particularly loved being able to walk our dog straight from the door and our 19 month old grandchildren enjoyed the woodland walk and watching the wildlife in and around the pond. The cottage is a perfect location for exploring both the coast and the Cheviots. Thank you so much. We really hope to come back.
We had a fantastic stay. Everything was as described and the setting was beautiful. The sticky toffee cake on arrival was delicious.
Glenys
Fabulous location close to so many places of interest. The cottage was clean and comfortable and well maintained. Had a wonderful week and would definitely return.
Jovana
Sawmill Cottage is set in peaceful woodland but within easy reach of the coast. The cottage was attractive and well equipped, with a lovely open plan cooking and dining area. The hosts were helpful and kind. Joining in with feeding the farm animals was a highlight for the animal lover in our group. Would be very happy to stay again.
Lovely property in quiet and peaceful setting. Clean and comfortable with a wonderful welcome pack. Had a great holiday.
Lovely property in a quiet location.

Sawmill Cottage was lovely, it was so spacious, it was super clean and tidy. The welcome pack was very thoughtful. We had a bit of a hiccup with the cooker but Vicky and her husband went our of their way to order and install a new one in a few days for us, they couldn't have been more helpful. The play area was brilliant for our grandsons and the woodland walk was super thoughtout as well. We all enjoyed our holiday here, in fact our 7 year old grandson cried because he was so happy here.
Fabulous property in special location. Very comfortable
Barbara
The location of the cottage is ideal for exploring the area from Berwick onTweed down to Amble. The cottage itself has plenty of space, certainly for 2 people. My sister and I like a double bed each and there are 2 bathrooms so we were able to do our own thing without waiting about. The manuals for the various appliances are in a drawer which is so useful. Plenty of logs for the log burner, however the cottage was so warm we did not need the burner. In fact we had to turn the radiators down. Comfortable beds and the pillows were much more comfortable than most places. Very peaceful surroundings as there are walks through the trees. Plenty of parking close to the house . Vicky has put a lot of thought into making the experience as pleasurable as possible clear instructions on how to find the cottage, a lot of information in the info folder regarding what to do in the cottage and in the surrounding countryside. A good stop for breakfast on departure day is Sunnyhills of Belford. Lots of tasty temptations there. The Welcome pack was very, well..welcome with Prosecco, milk, a gorgeous lemon drizzle cake and the resident hens and ducks eggs. A very enjoyable week and I would recommend the cottage to anyone who likes peace and wide open spaces. Thank you Vicky and Simon.
Andrew
Sawmill Cottage is an extremely spacious and well equipped property in a delightful, peaceful location. The owners were very helpful, accommodating an early check in request and on hand to answer any questions. The welcome pack was a very nice gesture, and much appreciated. A minor observation, which in no way detracted from our enjoyment, was the dust accumulation along skirting boards. We do intend returning to the property at some point and would certainly recommend it to potential visitors to the beautiful county of Northumberland.
Hannah
Lovely property, beautifully renovated to a high standard and well equipped. We had a lovely stay, a great base to explore Northumberland. Vicky and Steve were great.
The cottage is lovely and very well maintained with all up to date appliances, etc. The host is lovely and very helpful. We had a great stay. Unfortunately the picture of the front of the cottage is inaccurate as there is no tarmac drive at the front door, there is only a small path which limits access and also a garden fence
Absolutely beautiful cottage. Very spacious and comfortable. Has everything you need to make it home from home. Excellent location for visiting local places. So many areas just 10 mins aaay from here. The owner is very kind, friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. She lives on site but keeps out of the way but is there should you need anything. It was tastefully decorated for Christmas and we were left a lovely welcome pack. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Id definitely recommend and stay again however not with the introduction of dogs being welcome.
We had a wonderful Christmas week at Sawmill Cottage. There is plenty of space, lots of comfortable beds and the whole cottage is finished to a high standard. I just wish we lived there! The proximity to Bamburgh Beach was also great we had several trips there, even on the coldest and windiest of days, to build sandcastles. Our eldest also enjoyed celebrating her 8th birthday at Sawmill Cottage which was the perfect last day of our holiday there. Vicky and Steve were also really helpful whenever we needed them there was a problem with water supply the week we were there but they provided plenty of drinking water and have subsequently been super helpful gathering and keeping to the side several bits we left behind post Christmas packing up chaos!. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay thank you

Sawmill cottage was very spacious for 4 adults and two active children. The facilities within the grounds were fantastic for both adults and children The cottage had everything needed and the owners were very accommodating and responsive for any queries and anything that was needed. The cottage was private and safe for children. It was near to everything that we wanted to do. We all.had an amazing holiday thank you to the owners.
Lovely private setting. Play area was a great surprise and a wonderful asset.
Christine
Such a beautiful, well catered, well furnished accommodation, well recommended, lovely personal touches on our arrival, prosecco, home made cookies, milk, tea, coffee. Thank you for allowing us to stay, will definitely ve back
Had a lovely, relaxing weeks stay in a lovely cottage to explore Northumberland and beyond. It had everything we needed and more, the arrival to a homemade cake & bubbles was lovely and a basket of eggs was very welcome.
First class well equipped cottage in a beautiful location.
Adrianne
The property was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The site was well maintained and tidy with a delightful woodland walk and lakeside seating area. The cottage is conveniently situated for both the beautiful coast and countryside of North Northumberland.
Excellent holiday property could not fault it!
The property is in a very nice rural location and as a result we were plagued by flies. The water went off at 5pm on Sunday and did not comeback on until the following afternoon the owner did eventually bring us some water but this was really difficult as we had our 18 month grandson with us. I feel it was over priced based on other properties we have stayed with Sykes . Also a note to include that whilst it is open plan which is great in many ways this means the oven is accessible and for anyone with small children this created some challenges to try and keep them from running close to the oven.
Rachael
We had a lovely stay at the cottage! Beautiful surroundings both inside and outside of the cottage! The highlight for the children was taking the goat for a walk. Well visit again soon!
Cottage is lovely, we really enjoyed our stay.
Enjoyed our stay there! Unfortunately there were on plastic cutlery which was very disappointing. Also on our last day there were no hot water so we couldnt shower.
We were very comfortable in the cottage, everything we needed was supplied. Very nice location, with pleasant walks nearby, as well as plenty of places to visit.
Sharon
Sawmill Cottage is a fantastic place to stay whist visiting Northumberland. The cottage is immaculate, tastefully decorated and in beautiful, peaceful surroundings. The owners are extremely friendly and accommodating and were always at the end of a phone if we had any queries. We would definitely return and we highly recommend it.
Thank you for a fantastic stay at Sawmill Cottage. This was a booking made for last summer that was honoured this year, and it did not disappoint! Superbly clean, beautifully kitted out and decorated, and a great location for exploring Northumberland. The playpark for the kids was an added bonus not listed on the property details, but turned out to be one of the best parts of the holiday as my kids absolutely loved it and didn't want to leave. Lovely welcome pack of cake and Prosecco, much appreciated.
The cottage was amazing. Well positioned for sightseeing. Hopefully will book again in the near future.
Andrew
A very clean and spacious cottage in a very peacefull location. You can see Holy island from the grounds next to the recently cleared lake. The photographs of the grounds do not do this property justice. Fully recommended.
It was so good we have booked the same week next year.
Jacqueline
Just a few improvements, better lighting for reading in the lounge, a bit more kitchen equipment eg. grater, breakfast bowls, battery scales failed to work We had a super holiday, this is a fantastic base for visiting all of the Northumberland coast, the Borders , even Edinburgh.
Michael
This is a wonderful cottage in a fabulous area surrounded by trees . We loved it the minute we got there , everything went smoothly . We had delicious cake and a bottle of wine left by the owners , who couldnt do enough for us . Anything you need is in hand for you . The cottage is well appointed with all you could wish to need , everything has been thought of. You can sit and have breakfast on the patio or have a bbq , supplied by the owners after a quick message . A thoroughly gorgeous place which we hope to go back to and we have told everyone about . Thank you
Louise
Fantastic cottage in a wonderful location. The owners have thought of everything and provided all you would need for a holiday. The accommodation is of a really high standard and clean. Loved the rural location with the option to walk into nearby Belford for a drinkmeal.
Stephen
