Gardener's Cottage Reviews

Good size, Close to Bamburgh castle and lindasfarne. Comfortable beds. Only downside is an issue in every cottage we have ever rented, difficult to work heating and hot water. A simple temperature control would have been great.
Great base for exploring the county, coast and Scotland. Secluded and quiet. Extremely well equipped. One of the grandchildren enjoyed the spa bath. Very clean and comfortable. Would have liked larger bath towels but not an issue. The lovely welcome pack and milk was appreciated. Mrs Nixon approachable, helpful and always available. We loved the outdoor seating area, in the evening listening to the rooks and owls. Would have star gazed all night if the clouds hadnt been there
Andrew
A spacious cottage, plenty big enough for 6 adults plus dog, in a great location the coast a short drive away and walks from the door e. G. to St Cutbert's Cave. Two of our group ran a half marathon distance from the cottage to Lindisfarne castle along St Cuthbert's Way. Ideal for dogs, with a fenced patio plus a lawn. The bed in the master bedroom could have been a bit more comfortable, and the oven was not working brilliantly, but we'd still recommend the cottage and stay again.
Andrew
Superb accommodation. Ideally situated for visiting all the areas around this part of Northumberland. Then a lovely relaxing evening sat on the very spacious patio. If you want somewhere nice and quiet and away from the crowds then this property is ideal. Overall impression, perfect.
George
Lovely secluded position. Nice welcome tray clean .comfortable.nicely positioned for access to the places to visit. It was a superb cottage will be comingback and highly recomend to all
The cottage was ideal as described and a perfect point for exploring Northumbria. We loved the quiet and the room in the cottage and proximity to Belford for supplies. The only minor comment would be to upgrade the bath towels to a thicker softer grade. Otherwise, an enjoyable visit and an attentive Mrs.Nixon.
The property is in a beautiful countryside setting. The accommodation and facilities were excellent.
What a really special place. Very quiet and peaceful. I did Yoga on the lawn in peace and tranquillity. Lovely stay.
Kathryn
This is a beautiful cottage in quite a remote location lots of pheasants and deer passing by. It suited our 3 generation family perfectly without feeling cramped. Beds were very comfortable and the bathing facilities great our grandson particularly enjoyed the whirlpool bath! We had a great stay and used it as a base to explore going as far north as Edinburgh and down to Alnwick. It is a cottage I would recommend if you like peace and quiet and to be away from the madding crowd
Michael
Fantastic cottage really clean warm and comfortable cant wait to return
Stephen
Excellent location and local people very good. Property very warm excellent for winter use.
The cottage is clean and comfortable and the location is excellent. It is peaceful and quiet. Whilst the beds were comfortable we felt that the quality of the towels, pillows and duvets could be improved. Overall we had a good stay here. It is a great location for getting to many of the wonderful sites in Northumberland.
This was our second visit to Gardeners Cottage and we have booked again for next October. Its a beautiful cottage with everything provided in a lovely setting a few minutes drive from Bamburgh and Lindisfarne Highly recommend
Elaine

Andrew
Fantastic cottage had everything you could want apart from any sharp knives in the kitchen!

Really cosy cottage with all facilities that you may need. This is second time I have stayed and been very happy, will get back again.
Absolutely loved the cottage, couldn't fault it or the contact with the owner Valerie. Perfect all round for our week with grandchildren.
Anthony
This rural property is ideal for those wanting a quiet peaceful retreat. Surrounded by woodland. We had pheasants on the large patio area , with rabbits and the occasional deer in the woods and on the drive. The property itself is very clean and well maintained with comfortable beds and bathroom facilities and well equipped. The welcome pack was a thoughtful and appreciated addition. Turning right at the end of the lane is the quickest way to reach Belford where we found the Salmon PH provides good wholesome food.
Enjoyed our stay at the cottage everything we needed with beautiful countryside to enjoy. The only downside was the number of flies which you obviously know alteady
Patricia
We stayed at Gardeners Cottage back in 2015 and when we decided to have a family holiday in Northumberland this was the Cottage we searched for. It was just as we remembered it, comfy, lots of space and well equipped. It's always a nice little extra when arriving to find a generous Welcome Pack and was greatly appreciated and enjoyed by all. Just a few tweaks needed knife sharpener or new sharp knives for the kitchen and the pillows, pillowmattress protectors could do with washing or replacing as they were stained. The oven didn't reach temperature for a very long time, so maybe an element has failed. Overall in the 10 years since our last stay, the Cottage has been kept well maintained and is very clean and we would certainly book again with a shorter gap
Lovely property in a quiet and peaceful spot, well out in the country. The cottage is one of the best equiped we have had, everything you need in the kitchen for meals. Beds were comfortable. Our German Shepherd was secure and happy out on the patio, and we had good walks direct from the cottage. Just off the A1, so convenient to get out and about.

Had a lovely week weather was fabulous we really enjoyed looking around the beautiful area the welcome pack was superb we stripped the beds on leaving and was a bit disappointed to see the condition of our duvet it was ripped stained and tatty definitely needs replacing otherwise everything was first class
Shirley
Loved this property. It was spacious, extremely well kitted out and clean. The log fire gave a welcome cosy feel in the evenings and the outside patio and bbq, finished the days activities off in a fine fashion. The grassy space below being a great way for 2 young boys to practice their footy skills, and the local wildlife provided a lovely wake up call most mornings. Ideally situated for the A1, Belford shops and being separated from the busier parts of Northumberland, it is yet ideal for both the coastal beaches and thoroughly enjoyable local circular walks centred around the cottage. All being well, we hope to return next year.
Isobel
We had a great week & were so lucky to get sunshine all week too. The cottage was excellent, comfy beds, good showers, wellstocked kitchen. Ideal spot also for walking our dog. We would definitely return if in this area in the future.
This place is an absolute gem up a quiet if slightly bumpy track very well maintained lovely paved area for sitting out and watching the starswildlife and for our dog to potter around safely really clean wellequipped and very comfortable beds. The whirlpool bath is also brilliant after a full day touring the area. We will definitely be back! Can recommend The Middle Inn in Bamborough about a 15 minute drive, but well worth it as well lovely food and very dog friendlywelcoming.
Judith
Lovely property brilliant position especially for walking and visiting local area including Bamburgh and Lindisfarne. Well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Really enjoyed our holiday and will definitely be back next year.
Eileen
Well equipped and very comfortable cottage Owner responded quickly to phone calls for assistance first when we got lost finding the cottage due to local road closures and later in the week when our heating had problems. We also found this cottage ideal and well situated for exploring Northumberland
Deborah
Great cottage. Quick response from host. Peaceful and relaxing location, great base for walking and touring Northumberland. Arrived to a warm cottage with a lovely welcome package. The cottage is comfortable and clean and has everything that you need. A wonderful stay, would recommend.
Nice and cosy cottage. Enclosed garden ideal for dog owners. Quite remote as described and perfect for walkers, in better weather. Village of Belford a few miles away and close the Northumbrian coast.
This was the third time we have used the cottage in December. The stay was as good as the previous. The road leading up to the cottage has had some attention since last year apparently it is a local authority maintained road and there were fewer pot holes, non of which were a problem. The heating continues to be a head scratcher. Some of the radiators could do with bleeding and the thermostatic settings were a bit variable. Some radiators were too hot others not hot enough, but this was a minor problem as we controlled everything largely through the system thermostat which was in the hall. Overall a great cottage in a convenient location.
The cottage was perfect so much we have booked next year. The furniture and furnishings are fabulous. It has everything you can possibly need for a holiday stay. Highly recommended
Wonderful stay. House was fantastic, so well equipped. Perfect for our multigenerational holiday. Excellent location, easy to access lots of nearby attractions. Would absolutely recommend. Thank you!
A comfortable cottage with ample space and a lovely wood burning stove with wood provided. The beds were very comfortable and we appreciated the ensuite for our older family relative. For those who love a remote location it was very quiet and peaceful with plenty of places to walk in beautiful scenery. Belford was very near and with easy access to local shops and to explore the beauties of Northumberland. Thank you.
Lovely cottage in a peaceful location in the heart of beautiful Northumberland
Stuart
The only thing we found was several deep potholes in the lane up to the cottage which were difficult to negoiate after rain. Apart from a power cut, beyond the owners control, we had a great time.
Sharon
Very nice, well equipped cottage in a lovely area.
Had a wonderful stay. Cottage had everything we needed. Excellent location, just a short drive to nearest beach. Very clean and comfortable and good to have enclosed patio area for young children and a dog. Would thoroughly recommend.
Cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed. It was a great place to stay with visitor attractions close by. Sykes should check directions as cottage is on left of farm track not right as stated. I would highly recommend this cottage, could not fault it.
