The Old Reading Room is a stone-built detached cottage sitting right in the heart of Bamburgh, one of Northumberland's most photographed coastal villages. Built in the early 1800s, this property has served as an infant school, a village reading room and a doctor's surgery. That history is baked into the walls. It sits tucked up a small private lane, yet everything is on your doorstep.

Bamburgh is a proper coastal village. Restaurants, tea rooms, shops and pubs are all a short stroll away. The golden sands are just a few minutes' walk from the front door. This is a quiet, unhurried place with a real sense of character.

The cottage sleeps 3 across two bedrooms a double (4ft 6in) and a single (3ft). Everything is on the ground floor.

 

About The Old Reading Room

It sits tucked up a small private lane, yet everything is on your doorstep.

Bamburgh is a proper coastal village. Restaurants, tea rooms, shops and pubs are all a short stroll away. The golden sands are just a few minutes' walk from the front door. This is a quiet, unhurried place with a real sense of character.

The cottage sleeps 3 across two bedrooms a double (4ft 6in) and a single (3ft). Everything is on the ground floor. The living and dining room has a Freeview TV, DVD player and electric fire. The kitchen has an oven, hob, microwave, fridge and washing machine. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included.

Bamburgh Castle is right on your doorstep. The Grace Darling Museum is in the village. Seahouses harbour is around 3 miles away with boat trips to the Farne Islands. Alnwick Castle and Garden is roughly 15 miles south (around 25 minutes by car).
