An impressive period barn conversion in a popular village just 1 mile from Rest Bay, one of many popular attractions found along the South Wales Coast. Blessed with original features and offering large, naturally lit living areas, a secluded courtyard garden and easy access to cultural, historic and natural attractions, this dog-friendly barn is the ideal base for a family holiday. The barn, which dates back to 1826, is set off a quiet road that runs through the centre of Nottage. It has lost none of its original character in being brought up to modern standards, with exposed beams and stone walls blending seamlessly with contemporary soft furnishings and Velux windows that bring warmth to the first floor throughout the day.

About The Old Barn

There is plenty of room for guests to gather together in the lounge/diner, as well as a cosy snug for all-important “me time”. There are plenty of seating options in the open-plan kitchen/diner, including a large island/breakfast bar. A handy utility room stands nearby. Equally convenient is the en-suite double bedroom accessed via these stairs. A spacious family bathroom and three bedrooms, all doubles, stand just off the first-floor landing. Each bedroom enjoys ample storage, with one home to an en-suite shower room. A secluded courtyard garden offers a perch for morning coffees, al fresco meals and nightcaps. The centre of Nottage (200 metres) offers a range of pubs and eateries, with miles of walking routes nearby to take guests to Porthcawl (1 mile) and elsewhere. Porthcawl is known for its sandy beach and cultural attractions, with the Kenfig Nature Reserve (2.5 miles) connecting visitors with nature. History lovers should head to Ogmore Castle (8 miles), a picturesque ruin located near the confluence of the River Ogmore and River Ewenny.

The Old Barn Reviews

Eleanor
It was absolutely fantastic, the most beautifully decorated and spacious holiday cottage! We very equipped and thoughtfully laid out so as to accommodate a large group well. So close to the lovely beach Rest Bay and just next to the great pub The Rose and Crown. We will be back!!
Anna
Lovely house in a nice location.
Janet
There were 6 of us at the house - grandparents, parents, teenage and 10yo. We had the impression that the double room and en-suite accessed from the utility room would be downstairs. This didnâ??t matter to us but could be a problem if a guest couldnâ??t manage stairs. That said, the property is very spacious and comfortable, there are pubs, coffee shop and a general store almost on the doorstep and there are many places to visit within an hourâ??s drive. We had a great time there.
Paul
Lovely family cottage less than 15 mins walk from the coast. Great local pubs literally 1 minute away.
Sarah
Enjoyed our stay but property needs attention as it looks and feels tired in places.
Janet
This is a fabulous cottage in a really great location. The cottage itself has four spacious bedrooms and all the equipment needed. The village shop is literally 30 seconds walk from the front door and the 3 village pubs are all within 5 mins walk max. Especially recommend the Italian food at The Farmers Arms. The village of Nottage is within an easy 20-30 mins walk (5 mins in car) from Porthcawl itself and close to some lovely beaches. There is no garden space but the courtyard is a lovely suntrap. With good parking, the courtyard can take two small cars with another allocated space just outside on the driveway.

Great property â?? beautifully decorated with a lovely layout and plenty of space for socialising or relaxing. The parking was convenient, and the location made for a fantastic break near the sea. Itâ??s ideal for families or smaller groups, with everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Thank you so much â?? we had a great time!
Julian
Excellent barn conversion. Not ideal for families with children as no where for them to "kick a ball" or have a BBQ.
Sarah
Fantastic property in a great location. We realised the boiler wasnâ??t working on our first morning there, plumber came out and fixed it really quickly.
Valda
We had a wonderful family get away. There were eight of us but the barn is so well laid out with different living areas it was perfect. It is very well equipped and comfortable. We all said we would love to return.
Suzanne
We loved The Barn and itâ??s the perfect location for visiting our Welsh family so we will be back for sure!
Wendy
The Old Barn is in a really good location, close to the beach and to three welcoming pubs.
David
We enjoined our stay at this lovely holiday house. It has a very spacious living area and well equipped kitchen. The whole house has been tastefully put together. The bedrooms are a good size with comfortable beds and plenty of storage space. The house is in a good location for walking into Porthcawl. Good notes about what to put in which bins, but no information on when they should be put out for collection. The nespresso machine could not be used as it required the newer style pods which are not readily available in supermarkets. There is a tumble dryer at the house.
Jean
The cottage is in a perfect location. Comfort is exceptional. Very spacious rooms throughout. Beautiful authentic decor throughout with timber beams, well suited to the property. A well equipped kitchen with all the necessary items and more. With a large utility room. Cobbled seating area outside fully enclosed as expected. If I had the pennies I would buy this cottage if available. Highly recommend
Catherine
Very spacious, welcoming barn. Homely & nicely decorated. Fully equipped with everything we needed. Beautiful location within easy walking distance to Porthcawl. Several pubs, serving meals, within 2min walk. Fantastic little coffee shop next door to bar & well stocked local shop opposite. Overall an excellent holiday location
Hazel
A comfortable property with lots of space.
Muneeba
Beautifully decorated Barn - to a very high standard. Nice rooms, bathrooms and communal spaces comfortably seating us eight. We were a mixed group of adults and kids. My son enjoyed the quirky little stairway behind the chimney leading upstairs. Everything that we could think of was there. Including hair dryer, iron, washing machine and dryer. The TVs and lounges were great - with comfortable sofas. Kitchen was well equipped and also done to a high standard. A large 7 burner hob!!! Lots of little nice touches throughout with the lamps, candles etc. There is a nespresso machine! Would have been good to know before so i could have brought some pods. Good quality dishes - in short it's built and equipped for a family to live in - rather than just as a rental. Good location - close to the beach. The bathrooms were very nicely done, with nice bathtubs and spacious open showers. We had good internet connectivity. We really enjoyed the whole stay and the setup made it very magical.
